B2F87E86-419F-4D8A-9B54-1A29AA52B7D5.jpeg I would NEVER purchase an AR-15. Ever.

    Mainly because I have a 7.62 Vepr with a 27” barrel

I know a dude who may want to part with his if you want me to ask. No it’s not stolen, he is a former member of the Air Force honorably discharged.

Unless you plan on doing any actual hunting with it (deer, hog, etc.) get a .22M4 platform. Ammo is cheaper (especially in bulk), it will still kill if you need it to, and it's a lot cheaper to shoot.

Of course you probably already know this, but if you do get an AR15, only buy one stamped 5.56, do not buy a rifle stamped .223.

.223 Wylde is fine and generally considered more accurate.

The 9mm guns, mostly, seem easier for the wife to use.
