I love my .556 M4 w/heavy barrel, ergo pistol grip, collapsable rearstock, EOTech holographic site, collapsable rear iron sites, fore grip, and a tac light. Thing is a beast.

    Why collapsable front sights?

Well that is why I am asking I have a red dot optic on it now. But if the battery goes out I would want backup right? So I am curious should I get sights that fold down for when I chose not to use optics. So I could just get a rear sight?

Went to the range today again. Finally found some more 5.56 ammo. At a dollar a round one magazine was all I shot. Worked on my beretta sub compact .40. Thing is awesome though. It is a blast on the range....

Can you email me a picture of the rear sight or the build out. Curious to see it. I have the same ar it sounds ..

I only shoot with the EOTech in low light... otherwise I leave it off and bring up the rear sights, just look through the optic window. Used to be a few warehouses that we'd use for clearing techniques and other CQC stuff. Although in the new age of ZA and what not, swords may be the way to go.

A good set of collapsable rear iron sights will go for around $75-$100, just look around the stores that are assault rifle friendly. Installment is quick, just screw'em on the tact rail, then off to zero in your front sight.

Thanks Tigertailgating I did just that last night on cheaperthandirt.
I got some collapsible rear sights...

You can also get a ton of AR accessories on Amazon. I am not going to cover it in stuff though. I added a new tactical handrail, a front grip and the optic.
I am not adding flashlights and bi-pods etc. I may add a laser and sight it in at 20 yards IF I do plan on using this for home defense.
    But I doubt it.

Sounds like you're good to go. Glad cheaperthandirt helped out, hell I haven't used them in so long think I might've forgotten about them. Used to get great ammo deals through them.

Don't worry about tricking out that AR, all you need is a good optic, good iron sights, and a fore grip... I only tact'd mine out totally because I used it a ton on jobs as well as training... the fear factor helped thwart off the gang bangers but most of it isn't necessary. If you plan to do any hunting or humping with it in tow, get a good 3 point sling. It'll take the load off the shoulders, and keep your weapon in the ready position in front of you.

Mine has a Burris AR-332 red dot sight. For only $350 or so, you get a sight with clear optics, both red & green reticles and--for daylight and/or a dead battery--the reticle is etched into the optics so there is never a loss of the ability to acquire a target.

Because the AR is, IMO, a CQB rifle, the Burris scope, for the bucks, lets you rapidly acquire targets; if you wanna get farther out, use your M14/M1A if lucky enough to have one of those babies!

That Burris is a pretty cool site. Not fond of how high up it sits, guess i'm used to how close the EOtech rides the rail. But i'd give it a shot. Looks like the Burris is a little cheaper than my EOtech too.

True, that! But all I can say is that the Burris was very easy to get used to; I have no trouble whatsoever getting a rapid sight picture; no sense that it is 'mounted too high.'
