Just watching College Football Live, on the bottom where they show fans' comments.

    Walter (Baton Rouge, LA)
    Speaking of loyalty...
"I think Les Miles deserves an apology after being doubted by so many people. He actually stood by his word."

I think that is about as much as you will get from ESPN.

    And yet decided against it.

And will remain. Any other university would do the same. And honestly the buyout should be more.

Source? Anybody on record? Or just speculation?

    That's what I thought.

    It was true, and explained.

So when Miles says something he's lying, but when the media claims something it has to be the truth. Even though they are proven wrong. That makes sense.

yeah you're probably right. they can now say "well we showed that on air." it really is pathetic how they act.

i'd like to revisit an old thread about coaching and professionalism we had on here especially now that a client is calling me unprofessional for saying "let's nip this in the bud." but man, it's like the whole world has reverted to children who just say "nah nah na na nah" and run away when they do something stupid.

Les Miles should challenge Luv Bug to a public Roshambo match.

First of all, it would likely fall under the heading of libel and not slander. Secondly, as a public figure, CLM would have to show that malice or intent to harm was involved. That's not going to happen. What personal issue do you honestly think that any reporter would have with CLM?

I read that article and simply reading the opening line does not indicate what the article is about IMO. As an outsider, I came away with no ill feelings or thoughts about Miles, just an appreciation for the situation that ANY coach has to go through when being courted for another job. Media folks have opinions and the law respects that aspect.

CLM would never sue and for plenty of good reasons. He's financially better off at this point. Had he not been interested in the UM job in the first place, LSU might not have had to come up with such serious $$. Pretty hard to claim damages when you end up with more money. Not only that but I guarantee that ESPN will provide a name(s) of credible sources at UM who told them of a deal. The risk in such suits or actions often sheds more light on a subject better left in the dark.

For better or worse, this situation is not uncommon, he's not the first to go through it, and he won't be the last. Expecting, asking for, or demanding an apology is like chasing the wind.

the contract he signed was an EXTENSION there is not an increase in pay in the new contract as compared to the old contract (win the SEC be payed in the top 3 of SEC coaches, and win the NC and be paid with the top 3 coaches nationally). Hes not coming away with more money than he would have with the old contract. The people insinuating that CLM was using UM as leverage for more $$ are just recockulous. just my .02

I didn't say that at all. But there is no denying that CLM is in a better situation today than he was before the whole thing happened. Hence, there's not much damage to claim other than emotional.

This is completely inaccurate. He is better off because he won the SECG and might win the NCG. His acknowledged interest in the UM job had nothing to do with his pay increase. His current windfall is a result on an existing contract.
