You left no comment to go along with the red dots so I assumed you were simply starved for attention............................................................ ...................................... so I gave you some! You should learn the difference between whining and politely (with a hint of sarcasm) pointing out to rex, that his little red dot would not make a blip on the radar screen compared to the green rep I receive anytime I yank his chain. Got It?
OK genius, how about posting any reference in your article where the writer explicitly indicates the girl is retarded. Didnt think so!! So now that we have established that this was simply your opinion, which may not be DISRUPTIVE, it can certainly be construed as inflammatory. After having read your original post, it seems you have formed this (retarded) conclusion based on the fact that you did not approve of her particular method of inflammation. I myself can only assume, that her choosing to use a rebel flag to inflame her high school and your flippant use of the word retarded to inflame your fellow posters here, puts the two of you in the "like minds" category, but certainly not retarded. No, I do not have a hard on for you, but it is true that I'm not particularly fond of self-righteous, think they know it all pricks such as yourself, but thats just me.
It looks to me like somebody has difficulties with satire. Stay away from Swift... you'll probably think he actually wants to eat babies.
You should make up your mind there martin, first you get pissed because people are randomly giving out green, when you believe it should be reserved for well thought out posts. OK, but by the same token if you give red with no explanation, then how is one supposed to improve if they have no idea what YOU found wrong with the post. BTW, you post way too much for someone thats lazy, so I'll stick to my original assumption, you crave attention! :thumb:
i dunno if i would describe myself as "pissed" when i was explaining the ideal point giving system. of course i crave attention, everyone does. not sure how my leaving red without a comment is evidence of that.
Being up here in Kentucky for the holidays I have heard a lot about this, and being myself a confederate sympathizer of sorts, I think the girl was an idiot for trying to wear what she did. I don't think she should've been banned from the dance because, apparently, kids at school were/are allowed to walk around wearing shirts that had "confederate flags" on them. The only people that this could've been offensive to are those too ignorant to know what the war was even fought about. Sure slavery was an issue but it was not the biggest issue and Lincoln himself was a racist who thought whites were the superior race. But anyway back to the topic of the thread. I don't think that she should have been banned but when she said that she did it because of her heritage pissed me off because Kentucky didn't even secede from the union and the "confederate flag" wasn't the official flag it was merely a battle flag.
That flag would have been more accepted at my high school- Robert E. Lee. I do remember a parent complaining about our AP history teacher having various historical flags displayed in his room. The students were asked if any of the flags offended us. We all said we were perfectly fine with them and they stayed up.
Funny that you bring up these cases because they all involved students in the normal day to day class sense, not school sponsored activities. Tinker (armbands), Bethel (speech during school), Kuhlmeier (school newspaper) This was because certain issues could possibly disrupt the education process. What kind of education is sustained at a school prom? If this went to the Supreme Court, I guarantee Rhenquist and the crew would rule in her favor. Add: Although, I now digress, if the Prom was held on school grounds, and in the school dress code, there is written faculty and staff reserve the right to judge fitting atire, then she would have no legs to stand on. I believe that all schools use this contractual terminology so...
