It's a nice gesture, but i dont care. The AP poll has no bearing on ANY national championship except for their own.
Who does Appalachian State play this weekend? Coming off that Gigantic Upset, they are do to get crushed this week. That's just the way things work.
I am courious what we might say if LSU was #1 in the AP and someone else won the BCS. :geauxtige PS The AP will always mean something because the media will not let die.:geauxtige
I'm more curious as to what the media would say. You never hear LSU 2003 national champions without USC following it. If the tables were turned would the media show us the same respect. I'm guessing not.
I have the same feeling. Auburn was shunned in 2004. To the point of this thread... I like it, though Appalachian St doesn't play a tough enough schedule to stay ranked. In actuality, this school that is hot hot hot probably isn't in the top 50, but if they actually were, I like the idea of ranking them. I think this is the biggest argument yet for a playoff. If a 1aa team can beat a "top 5 team" (I know its a pre-season ranking based on speculation, but still), some of these nonBCS teams probably deserve a shot at the NC.
