That play won them their last national title...they talk about it everyday. I cant tell you how many offices around here have that "limited" edition print on the wall.
damn what a game. yeah UM was the overwhelming favorite. i liked gene stallings so it was easy to pull for those guys. david palmer, dwayne rudd, eric curry, langham, john copeland, jay barker. oh and that good ass kicker michael proctor. it always seems UT and Bama have great kickers and punters almost every year. les miles wanting to have the best special teams in the country is refreshing.
Damn straight I remember this play and game, Tirk. Alabama wasn't given a chance in hell and, like you, I'll root for the SEC team every time in such a situation. Gene Stallings and that great Bama D gave Gino (Damn, I sucked in the pros) Toretta fits. Who was that, Antonio Langham? I forget, but the hustle that dude showed on that play---saving a touchdown AND forcing a turnover---was amazing.
Oh yea, I remember that game. My Dad and I were in New Orleans that day to goof off, and being the idiot kid I was, I was rocking the Miami gear that day. It makes sense though, b/c my Dad went to Miami, so at least I had an excuse. That was NOT a good day to be a Cane fan!!!
