Hawthorne is like a weatherman .... gets it right about half the time and collects a big paycheck!

Must be nice to get away with it...

My favorite is when he's broadcasting the baseball games...

...and this is hit hard, very hard, this could be big runs for the Tigers...it's going farther, farther, farther- and the shortstop comes in and makes the catch! ;)

I remember Ferguson "Charlie Alexander roars through a big hole off tackle - and he's stopped for no gain"

I usually had a hard time figuring out what was happening in the game, listening to Ferguson. Hawthorne is no better. Is it that difficult to find a decent radio play-by-play guy? Do y'all listen to Astros' radio broadcasts? Milo Hamilton is a HOF broadcaster (the only reason I can figure is that it's because he called Hank Aaron's historic blast), and he's horrible. His voice is okay, and he can wax eloquently and tell some interesting stories, but he's horrible to listen to if you actually want to know what's going on in the game! He calls it as if he thinks the listener is at the game or watching on tv and doesn't actually need to know the result of the play! Typical Milo call goes like this: "Here's the pitch... hit hard toward the hole... knocked down... and... woah, what a play... the shortstop showed great range there... and he knew he had time to get the runner... but he seemed to almost rush the throw a little... " So, WTF happened Milo? I never heard the words "hit," "safe," "out," or "error!" Rather than say what happened, he gives the listener hints. A minute later, we'll learn that the guy is standing on second!

I liked the way he used to refer to wide open receivers as "in the moonlight."
