just trying to keep y'all honest, markiemark. I am really amazed at how many are assuming LSU wins at Arkansas. The same people, undoubtedly, assumed LSU would win at Arkansas in 2002... I've been following LSU and SEC football far too many years to fall into that trap...

The point was brought up again in an argument to support a belief that Saban is as good or better coach than some others. I'll guaranty you that Nick Saban isn't just assuming his team will beat Arkansas!

Pay me $2.6 million and I'll stop making assumptions and hypothetical points on message boards. Until then..........

Not spoiled at all. I guess by your estimation Boise State is a hellava team, considering they are 10-0. I am not going to discuss this further as my point was made and I hate having to argue that my favorite team has not played all that great, contrary to what their record states.

I have to agree with Boston on this one. Our team is FAR from mediocre this year. As they say, the proof is in the pudding. Eight wins with a chance still for nine or 10 is way above average. Look up the word "mediocre" in a dictionary, puke, and you may wish to restate your position. I have to also agree that any Tiger fan who believes his/her team is mediocre despite an 8-2 record with a possible 10-2 finish and a new year's day bowl does, indeed, appear to be spoiled by last season's national championship. If you've been following the Tigers for any significant period of time, you'd have to admit that there have been many years when you would consider eight wins by the team to be pretty darned good and, certainly, a reflection that the team was much, much, better than mediocre...

Spurrior mentioned these two for very specific reasons. He mentioned Carroll because Pete was fired by 2 NFL teams (Jets and Pats) before landing at SC and succeeding--Visor Boy is pointing out that a poor NFL coach like himself can succeed in College. He mentioned Stoops as a prop to one of his former assistants. I don't think you can read any more into the statement.

I think Nick is better than both, but I understand why SOS wouldn't mention him when you consider the point he was trying to make.

I didn't feel the need to include Boise State because I thought you would rationalize it and realize that a 8-2 SEC team is FAR more impressive than a 10-0 WAC team.

SEC vs WAC is apples and oranges....or apples and prunes.

If you look closely we have a common opponent, and Boise State dismantled them.

My point was that you cannot simply look at a record. A mediocre team can have a winning record, so be it as they beat other mediocre to bad teams to get those 8 wins.

And the above mentioned statement applies to all teams, not just LSU.

This is a very good LSU FB team ... anyone who says otherwise is a complete FB moron

Without a shed of ability in judging FB talent ... or they've been listening to Gary McNeil (Tiggereducated) run his suck around here that this LSU team is a "not a good one".

LSU FB has talent that every coach in America would love to have ... period. They've spoken already! Look at the players we have and look who recruited them.

LSU speed and power is still peerless in the College game ... QB and OL play and execution hasn't been great on offense this year ... but that doesn't mean the team is mediocre or not a good one, just young and developing.

You don't string a handful of top recruiting classes together if you're a mediocre "Cool Hand Luke" Div-1 school ... and you don't go 10-2, 9-3 or even 8-4 in the SEC with a mediocre team.

LSU FB has not yet reached its peak under Saban. Better OL & QB play in 2005 could get LSU back to the top ... again with a ferocious dee.

Not getting a nickel for a 2005 guess who starts ... Flynn could get the job done in 2005. I stand by my spring and fall assessments ... Flynn is better than Russell (just not as strong an arm). I'll take a mobile (4.5) Flynn with vision and playbook smarts over a strong-armed Russell any day. You'll move the FB more consistently and remain a threat to run the ball.

I know this above all things after watching 2004 LSU FB. A team with a quick and mobile QB with a great arm, good field vision and decision making skills, coupled with LSU's incredible talent and speed at WR and backed by a great defense would OWN THE SEC and possibly play for the NC each year. Saban will keep recruiting great linemen ... LSU just needs a break at the QB spot.

LSU needs a Ryan Perriloux ... his latest exploit ... phenomenal rally against Jesuit in the playoffs ... watch him again this week ... when all is said and done ... Perriloux will be a Tiger, I'm with dandydon on this one.

Last I saw posted... RP was 99% Texas... but if he has seen the problems this year he may be thinking he has a shot at the start next season which he wont have at Texas.
