1. so, bama's up on us 28-0 this year. they have the ball at the 50 with 2 seconds left. they run a flea flicker on the last play of the game to win 35-0.
were they running it up or not?
  2. ^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  3. geneiga promises not to complain if that happens
  4. Hey it was a rushing TD!
  5. they officially changed it correctly to a passing TD
  6. I am 100% sure that Les felt his team did wrong in scoring the last TD !

Most of you guys just don't get it - this is big stuff in the world of Les and it is part of what makes him click. It's a Bo thing with him and it is part of his very core.

It's the part of him that says - secure victory - that means win the game not run up the score. It is the reason we ran the ball and control clock for the entire 2nd half. You guys know that many TDs off play action was sitting on the table - not !!!
  7. Here's my view on the situation. LSU is up 31-7 with 7-8 min. left in the game. There is one key question to be asked. If LSU fumbled right then and there, what would Tennessee do? Is Tennessee trying to score? Of course, they are! So my opinion is that as long as the other team is trying to put points on the board there is no "running it up".
  8. My question is this; the way we were pounding their ass with the running game wasn't a pass the kinder gentler approach. I mean their D-line had to be begging for anything but a running play.
  9. Many years ago, in the Dallas Cowboy hey day when Aikman was QB and the Cowboys ruled everyone, someone asked Jerry Jones about the Cowboys running up the score. Jerry Jones' reply was, "well, maybe they should get better players." While I think Miles was bothered by the final TD, and respecting the opponent is at his core, we did not score to rub it in. That TD was just the natural progression and end point to yet another long drive for the Tigers. IF Miles was too concerned about running up the score, he should have put Stamply in at TB and run him 3 times then punted. IF he was worried about running up the score, he should have replaced Lee/Jefferson with our 3rd string QB, Mettenberger, and let him hand it off. As it is, you can NOT keep the starters in the game, call plays and ask the players to not score or not do their best. You can't have it both ways. So, in effect, Miles is responsible for the last score for not playing some 3rd stringers and letting them get 7 minutes of experience.
  10. The object is to win, not humiliate. There's a point of dimenishing returns. 40+ to 0, 7 etc. gets the message without those old 62-0 Nebraska scores under Osborne.
