Rumors are flying of "surprising" matchups in the BCS. With the BCS rules and committee approval, it is possible that some shuffling happens for the benefit of the entire system rather than just the Rose and/or Sugar. Here's what could happen in such a scenario: Rose -- USC-LSU Sugar -- Michigan-Louisville Orange -- Wake-ND Fiesta -- OU-Boise This really helps the Orange by having ND instead of a weak Wake-L'ville matchup. For the Rose, it is essentially a wash, although they lose a traditional Big 11- Pac 10 matchup, they get a school that has already sold 42,000 tickets to the game and a top 4 ranking. The Sugar would benefit, because both of those schools should travel to N.O. I think L'ville actually would bring a pretty good presence, especially to play Michigan. And Michigan is Michigan -- they'll travel. This could help N.O. fill more hotel rooms than if LSU plays there. So, this could be the win-win-win scenario, resulting in the "surprise" matchups in the rumors.
I'd like to buy into this, but could you at least say where you are getting such "rumors"? For all I know this is something that's your wishful thinking.
So is the only reason ND is considered a "lock" because of tradition and nothing automatic? Has anyone interviewed to Sugar Bowl people to gauge their interest in ND period? If the Rose passed up Michigan for us then they could match up UM vs. another at large
Try reading some other message boards and listening to FOX talk about surprises in the BCS. That said, this is not necessarily my "wishful thinking" but it is my theory. Note I didn't quote any "source" or give "inside information." Just posting a possible breakdown based upon the aforementioned rumors.
That's what I'm saying. New Orleans needs the money that LSU wouldn't bring as compared to any of the other teams. On top of that, the money LSU would bring to Pasedena is insane.

I'm not teasing you or bashing your intelligence with the following: This is not a difficult concept. Within the BCS system, there are tie-ins for the champions of each conference. With the establishment of the 5th BCS game, these tie-ins do not shift as before. Rose- Pac-10 Champ vs. Big-10 Champ Sugar- SEC Champ vs. At-large BCS candidate Fiesta- Big XII Champ vs. At-large BCS candidate Orange- ACC Champ vs. At-large BCS candidate BCS NCG- #1 BCS vs. #2 BCS If the conference champ is ranked 1 or 2 in final BCS, their spot becomes available to an at large candidate. I'll let you figure out who goes where and why from there. :thumb:
