this guy will probably go to bama, but from what people are saying, we would be his definite second....maybe the weekend here, being his last visit, will sway him our way???
The thing about Andre is that he's looking for a program with a good Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I know that Bama has a very good FCA and that's a main reason we're atop his list. Not sure how you guys run things down there or how big your FCA is...But yeah this is a big priority for him.
I'm not doubting what you are saying as I am sure Bama has a superb FCA, but it doesn't hurt that he is from Alabama...Lots of schools, especially big public ones, have good FCA programs and I'm sure if he was from LA, he would be a heavy LSU lean for their FCA program...
Right now Bama is considered the lead on this guy.. LSU is a strong second... If Miles & Co. pull out all the stops they may just hook this guy.. my bold prediction of the year is that either McCoy or Smith will make the LSU switch...
LSU seems to be due for a "big one" to round out the class. Last year it was almost Bennnett...That would great if it was Andre Smith. As great as our recruits have been for our line in the past five years, he probably could start day one...
Am I reading this right? You would trade AS for TT any day? I'm not only on the opposite side of the fence from you on this one...I'm in a different planetary system.
Yeah this is right. I said it and I stand by it. I dont care if Peyton Manning comes back to play for Bama--he's not going to do well behind our line. I know that Andre Smith will only be a freshman and you can never tell about a freshman, but the man has dominated his senior year and AAA game. With the kind of Oline that we are building, any QB or RB can do well. Terry, you should know that in the pro-set, you HAVE to have a good Oline. But you even said yourself, that we dont have JJ back there because we run the pro-set. I'm not saying that JJ is as smart a QB as Tebow because obviously the guy can play. We have the drop back guy (JPW), who can also scramble well, and we got the dual-threat guy (JJ). I'm not going to speculate saying JJ is a great QB but from what I have seen this year, he's a great athlete and really loves to play the game. Everyone in Bama nation agreed that this year should be the "Year of the Offensive Lineman". I just think AS would be a HUGE puck up and really give us some size and power on the Oline for next year--and some real expierence for '07. Next year will be fine but in '07, we can do some real damage! I just think that a great offensive line makes for a great RB and a very good QB. Picking up the best OLman in the nation isn't going to hurt. We have oodles of talent at RB and very deep. JPW is a good QB and with some time to throw to our recievers, I think he'll develop quite nicely. ......Just my .02
I misread what you were saying RedE. I thought you were saying you'd rather have Tebow than Smith. It's my mistake, completely.
After reading all the stuff on him during the Army game he sounds like a true freshman starter. He was one of only 2 guys who got the better of Al Woods a couple times in practice. I saw some of his highlights during the high school season and he was dominating to the point of it looking unfair. Landing this guy would be a major pickup.
According to BamaOnline, LSU is out of the picture. It is down to USC and Bama, with FSU maybe getting a look. From what it sounds like, LSU and the Barn are not at the top of his list anymore. Of course all of this could change after he visits.
