Your problem is that you actually believe yourself.

Well, not to stick my nose where it doesn't belong :) , but Sammie Joseph left Colorado--a school that has been plagued with scandal, law suites and lots of NCAA investigation. Joseph, if you remember, was already a starter at CU.... He might not be that here. Sure, he'll play and contribute, but outside of Ronnie Prude (from Miles' commits), the other CB spot is up for grabs.

I won't kick Amp when he's down, but I won't hold back and not say that I'm disappointed that he's leaving.

You know what they say: "It's all about the timing".

Look, Lavelle Hawkins was another blue chip WR that committed to us but left. But in Lavelle's case, once he was here, he realized he was homesick, and went back to California (hell, I don't even think he was fully unpacked!). Now, it very well could have been because of depth that made Hawkins' decision to leave, but to his credit, he never publically said that. He stated that he wanted to be closer to home, admitted to making a mistake and committing to a place far away, and he stuck to it.

There's no doubt that Amp's years here were trying for him. He probably went through a lot of adversity having to sit out and rehab--also probably something that he never had to do before. I also don't doubt the fact that he is very excited to be back closer to home...but if that's the case, why didn't he just come out and say that?

IMO, if I'm homesick, then no matter if I'm concerned about playing time or not, I tell the coaches that I'm ready to return home and play closer to my family. I wouldn't have a meeting with the coach, inquire about where I stand on the depth chart, and THEN go AWOL after not hearing what I would have liked. I think that's the type of thing that gets people to think that he's "tucking tail and running away". Not because he's simply leaving LSU to return home.

Some people will be upset with his decision, other's won't utter a single negative word about him and wish him well. Personally, I fall somewhere in the middle: I think that he's been given a ton of positive praise from everyone concerning his abilities and for looking to be back to 100% and many projected him to be a guy that, at season's end, contributed. But nothing is just handed to you in life. You have to take advantage of your opportunities as they come. Amp thought he deserved more reps in practice. That's his right to feel that way. I think he should have focused on making whatever # of chances he got count. If you don't focus on what you're not getting, as oppossed to what you do when you have an opportunity, then the rest will automatically work itself out.

Sounded like Amp wanted reassurance about his place on the team and when he didn't get a concrete answer, he left. Can't blame Miles' stance on the subject. After all, how CAN a coach specifically tell a player coming off of a major knee injury, exactly how much he'll get to play before easing him back into the rotation??

Hey, look, if Amp feels that he's better off someplace else, then by all means, he should go. (And I don't mean for this to be taken in the wrong way by anyone but...) If a player doesn't want to be here--reguardless of the reasons, then they shouldn't. I wouldn't want a player who's physically here, but mentally thinking of being elsewhere. It would be bad for both sides.

Absolutely, the injury plagued his career. Amp couldn't overpower the resistance.
