This story is getting a lot of press here in DFW, since it happened just south of Ft. Worth. I was wondering why Chris Kyle was taking a mentally ill person to a shooting range at all. It was kind of like wondering why the mom of the Newtown shooter took him to the range.

It seemed odd. Also odd was how a month ago, everyone was all over the "we need better mental health care to prevent killing" bandwagon, and no one has yet mentioned that this nut was being treated at the VA hospital a week ago for his mental instability, yet was out of the hospital and able to kill two people a few days ago.

none of that matters in Texas, if a dog could shoot a gun, texas would allow it.

Sad. I just finishing reading his book the week before he was killed. Great book and it was touching b/c his wife wrote several pieces in it. You got to know them both. When the news about his murder was announced, I really felt sorry for his wife. RIP Chris Kyle. God Bless you and your family.

Really good book. According to the kindle i'm about 79% done with it. Then i'll move on to the book that follows this one. Maybe something is wrong with me, but I never had some of the issues he discusses, like shooting over the enemies head, or failure to fire a weapon.

Been on a lot of gun boards and a few Longhorn boards lately. I need to get my ass over here more often. I do love this place. You guys are a good bunch of folks.
