well, specifically what you said was "I believe in a Creator" "I do believe in God" what logic? logic is the application of evidence. i certainly do not. it is surely possible that god exists. see how i didnt get mad about you speaking for me? i simply corrected you. what a gentleman i am. you clearly are not agnostic. can you remember your own position? again, you simply do not understand the meanings of the words atheist and agnostic. you are a believer. that mnakes you neither an atheist nor an agnostic. i think i can speak for many of us here when i say i think it is intriguing how clintonesque you are. how difficult it is to nail down what you believe. exactly. you claim to know nothing of god, then go on listing the things you know about him, like the fact that he doesnt need your money or need you going to church. for all you know he loves those things, how would you know what he likes and doesnt like?
I don't get caught up in cosmological semantics, although I know that it fascinates many. Bottom line is that I really don't care if the chicken came before the egg or not as long as both are on the table. As far as a creator: 1. Whatever exists was created. 2. The Universe exists. 3. Therefore, the Universe was created. 4. Therefore, a creator exists. The creator could be a deity, a being or a phenomenon, we have no way of knowing. If I choose to believe that the creator is a deity, it is because I simply like the concept better.
See post above. NO IT IS NOT. Logic is the study of the principles of valid inference and correct reasoning. Then you aren't even an atheist, so stop trying to call me one. Go look up the definitions again, you are quite wrong and I'm not going to argue it with you for the 17th time. I was trying to make a simple point for the simple minded. Clearly it wasn't simple enough for you.
how do you know that? maybe some things are eternal and always existed. why would he necessarily exist still? the universe was created a long time ago. maybe he tired out and killed himself. you have a lot of faith in things you could not possibly know. thats pretty extreme. the pragmatic man doesnt assume knowledge of things he is clueless about. but curiously you have the ability know he exists and that he doesnt care if you go to church. i like how arbitrarily you choose what is knowable and what isnt. sane people do not "choose" to believe. belief is not volitional. i could try all day and not believe in god. what you have is called "faith". "i simply like the concept better" as well. i wish god existed and i was going to heaven and hendrix was there waiting to shoot hoops with me. but i am handduffed by a miserable thing called "reality" and tha lack of knowledge of any such thing.
haha, cmon man be serious. i will stop calling you one. apparently now you are a faith-filled zealot who claims to know things he couldnt possibly know. but for the record i am still an atheist. sometimes i need to be spoken to like i am a child so i can understand.
If it works better for you . . . I like having an imaginary friend. One who knows our hopes and fears and makes us better Mouseketeers. I sir, am not handcuffed by reality. I transcend it.
fair enough. thats a pretty moderate mainstream viewpoint so it fits you. i happen to think that we humans shoudl aspire to be a little more rational than that, but yunno, another thread, amigo.
