you realize these christian denominations dont believe that you'll go to hell for those things if you believe in christ, right?
No, I'm not Catholic. But all of my friends in high school were, so I went to Catholic church with them, even sat with them in the choir loft.
I really can't call myself a Christian formally, but I've been shaped by a mostly Christian nation and tradition. In the quote you guys are referring to, it may have been in context of the situation at that time, it may not be accurately translated, or it may be a lot more general than it seems. No one reaches God unless they live in the way Jesus taught, not necessarily only what Jesus taught. His way may be similar to other religions when cross-examined, and it seems that is the case. I know that is what some churches teach, as is, "being saved is the cheap and easy way to salvation," but I'm not surprised to find that some churches mislead their congregation; in the end each member of the congregation is responsible for themselves. I think submitting yourself to Jesus is good, but I believe Jesus wanted each person to take their spirituality into their own hands. He was fighting against the established church because it leads to complacency. The fight for your soul is real and if you don't take it seriously you will pay the price later... IMO. I'm not sure I believe in a red devil wielding a pitchfork, but I do believe that if one's weaknesses aren't transcended they will be harder to overcome upon death than they are in life.
