    There are still a few haters who look for every little chance to dump on Miles.

    Coach speak and Spring game. Get a clue Doctor Dave.

    Les may not be an X-and-O prodigy, but he's a hell of a coach. He's got a lot invested in these seniors and he doesn't want one to transfer and the other to brood. He's got the quarterback of the future, too, but he's not letting the future arrive too soon for him until he pays some dues. Les knows this and so does Mettenberger. Mettenberger is getting the "new guy" rubbed off of him this spring. Kragthorp will be exploiting these quarterbacks talents in the fall, but Les works year-round building up some egos and taking others down a notch. He trying to keep all of them excited about the game.

    Yesterday tells us the story.

    Mettenberger = 62.5% completion average, 1 TD, 0 INT.
    Lee = 64.2% completion average, 0 TD, 1 INT
    Jefferson = 28.5% completion average, 0 TD, 1 INT

    August camp is going to be a whole new ballgame. Mettenberger will no longer be a new guy, there will be two new rookie quarterbacks. I don't think Jefferson will be anointed in August. Not with numbers like that.

    And the biggest factor that goes unnoticed on a stat sheet are the types of completions.

    The first two completions thrown by ZM are two balls that JJ never even lets go, because he doesn't have the anticipation skills nor the trust in his accuracy. Most folks thinks that its about having a lazer arm, which ZM does, but it is more about anticipating the defense, and trusting in your accuracy.

    ZM just so happens to be A+ accurate, with an A+ arm, and the confidence you need to fit it in their.

    Both deep balls thrown by ZM were balls that where the offensive player was running in stride and had a better shot at the ball than the defensive player, and on a deep ball, what more can you ask for. (Note: Not many schools have 6'3 corners with long arms and ball skills like Tharold Simon :).

    Overall, the future of the QB position looks very bright in Baton Rouge. And that spells trouble for the rest of the football world! :tigereye:

    When Kragthrope first arrived there was all this talk about how the QB position was wide open and there were no incumbents. Now Kragthorpe's mood has changed.

    “No, Jordan’s our starter,” Kragthorpe said. “Jordan’s had a great spring. We have to good guys behind him. It’s a friendly competition. I’ve been in situations where I’ve had no quarterbacks. There are three good ones here.”

    It takes a big man to throw out the word "hate" at someone anytime he can't come up with a thoughtful response. I DO NOT HATE LES MILES. I do know that he if he was coaching a professional football team, he would never get away with the some of the personnel decisions he makes. In saying that, it does NOT MEAN THAT I HATE HIM. You call yourself the voice of reason. Maybe you used to be, but not any more. 98% of the decisions that Miles makes, I agree with. Just because I am vocal on the 2% of the time I disagree with him DOES NOT MEAN THAT I HATE HIM. The man makes millions of dollars to make decisions about LSU football. That does not make his decisions automatically correct.

    The spring game once again proved that Jefferson is consistently inconsistent. He looked like an all american againt A&M and looked like an incoming freshman yesterday. Lee was Lee. Mett looked seasoned in an offense that is new to him. I am not calling for Mett to start but he should be given a fair chance at the starting position instead of "seniority" dictating the starter. Ware, if he stays healthy, will have an outstanding year. Overall, I definitely think we looked better this spring than last. Of course, thats not saying much. Still, the problems remain the same year after year.

    Jefferson looked like Jefferson of old. Make one read, then tuck and run, never staying in the pocket more than 2 or 3 seconds. No pocket awareness, or the gaul to throw in the face of the defense, especially one which wasn't going to hit him.

    And Jarrett Lee, well, he's still Jarrett Lee. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just that he's not SEC starting quarterback caliber.

    Defensive backfield looked good, but they did get burned a couple times. Plus some of the passes had a lot of hang time on them. Wanted to see more from Freak though.

    Still not seeing Russell Shepard or Rueben Randle get as many touches as they should.

    Spencer Ware is an effing beast.

    Spring game numbers don't matter. Especially not with LSU's psuedo-game format which is basically just a live practice.

    Obviously we would have all liked to see JJ light it up but it really doesn't matter that he didn't. There were 14 other practices this spring that none of us got to see. Plus there will be 30-40 more this fall.

    Those will have more impact on the QB competition than what ESPN showed us yesterday. If someone other than Jefferson is named the starter, it won't be because of 8 passes in a scrimmage.

    Miles never plays young talent...well except for Ware, Mathieu, Blue, Reid, etc.?
