I love the Tigers as much as anything else, but how often do you have the opportunity to go to a World Series game for FREE? Hell the ChiSox haven't been to a World Series since 59, so here's what I would do. Tape or Tivo the LSU game and go to the World Series, watch it when you get home.
You could always PM islstl and tell him you have a free ticket for him. I bet he'd take a last minute flight.
I'm not a big baseball fan at all, but I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to experience a World Series game. As suggested, maybe you can trade it for a later game, but I wouldn't want to appear ungrateful in the process. I'm sure there are many others who would jump at the chance.
I think I am coming around to this level of thinking. I love my Tigers, but I may never get this chance again. I'll just have to check the scores on my phone as we go.
That's my take. Try like hell not to find out what the LSU outcome was (shouldn't be too hard in Chicago) and watch the game when you get home.
If it were game two, it would be a no brainer for me as Bo Jackson will throw out the first pitch!:hihi: :hihi: Seriously, one game is on TV and another is one you will see live. $2000 a ticket tells you something about valuation, this is not an everyday situation. You will be able to say you saw other LSU games on a TV in a bar, when will you get to go to another World Series Game. Is there any comparison of a live sporting event and one on TV? I will not compare a baseball game with being at Death Valley during a night game, but sometimes it is about BEING THERE. The sensory element alone should sway you. You will not in 10 years be talking about the game you saw on TV, you will talk about the Opening Game of the World Series in 2005.
Having been displaced myself, I can tell you that getting the opportunity to attend a WS game in a city so plagued by "curses" and misfortunes surrounding their baseball teams (Boston and Chicago), I would have to go to the WS game--at least for half of it.... Tape the LSU/Auburn game and watch it when you get home--DON'T watch ESPN or listen to sports talk shows on the way home either. That way, you can STILL be a part of viewing a World Series in person and STILL be watching the LSU game on TV (like you would have been doing anyway). That's just my take.
Thank you everybody for your opinions. I am going to the World Series. I just can't pass this up. Oh, and Geaux Tigers! Does this look right? Geaux Sox!
