If he was a basketball player this board would be all over Brady's a$$ for his leaving.

And it would be well deserved --

but Alley is a known headcase. This isn't a Magnum Rolle situation. This isn't a Brandon Bass I'm-not-getting-drafted-in-the-first-round-but-I-hate-Brady-so-I'm-leaving-anyway situation.

I join the rest of you in thanking Alley for what he contributed to the program in the past and wishing him the best with his future. I wish it could have been different for him with the Tigers. It's sad that it is not to be...

Garrison Hearst was out a couple of years with a horrible knee, got it healed up and had some top 10 rushing stats with the 49ers late in his career. It could happen for Alley. I realize the odds are down, but I'll pull for a upset. I wish him the best!

Money does motivate. Maybe that's what Alley needs.

I often wonder if I could have played pro ball, but then I remember that I totally sucked at every sport so there are no regrets. (With apologies to Jack Handy:hihi: )

Sorry to hear that. I didn't realize how traumatic it can be till it almost happened to my oldest daughter. She was pitching in a game at 12U Nationals as an 11 and HUGE girl hit a SHOT and it grazed the top of her head. (I'd been begging her to wear a face guard but few pitchers do and she was, understandibly- I guess- too conscious of being percieved as "Out of the ordinary".

Well the next time this kid came up to bat, something happened and her coach walked to the mound. After a brief meeting came back to the dugout and looked towards me to tell me she was scared and didn't want to pitch to her. I was floored at first and felt she should have approaced it as the ultimate challenge to strike her out this time. As couple of weeks later, I found many articles on the net about how MLB have to seek counseling after getting hit by a pitch, batted ball. Though I wasn't critical of her at the time, I went back to her and apologized for even questioning her and shared with her the info. I'd found.

Long story short, you're so right about the journey to overcome injuries- mentally as well as physically.
