Ok...well then who else has Dale's accomplishments?? His Final Four appearances, W-L record at LSU, etc.? For better or worse, he's sort of our All-Time coach by default because of the number of years he spent at LSU and nearly every one of our All-Time Tiger greats played for Dale...
I have posted this a number of times: Pf Bob Petit................6-9 C Shaquille O'Neal........7-1 Sf Durand Macklin........6-7 Og Pete Maravich........6-5 Pg Ethan Martin...........5-11 2nd team Pf Dewayne Scales......6-9 C Stomile Swift...........6-9 Sf John Williams..........6-8 Og Howard Carter........6-5 Pg Chris Jackson.........6-0 3rd team Pf Nikita Wilson...........6-8 C Leonard Mitchell.......6-7 Sf Ricky Blanton..........6-7 Og Don Redden...........6-6 Pg Kenny Higgs...........5-11 4 players who should be on the team; Sparky Wade, Ronald Dupree, Derrick Taylor and Jerry Reynolds. The pre 1950 all time LSU would look like this: C Buddy Blair............ Sf Bobby Lowther......6-5 Sg Bob Meador.......... Og Joe Dean.............6-1 Pg Sparky Wade........5-9 All time coach: Dale Brown
I like your old-timers team. But as much as I like Rudy and Ethan, I just can't put them ahead of John Williams and Chris Jackson on the first team. I'm a big fan of Blanton and Redden but I dont see them knocking players like Jerry Reynolds, Geert Hammink, or Derrick Taylor off of the third team either.
PG - Chris Jackson SG - Pete Maravich F - Rudy Macklin F - Bob Petit C - Shaquille O'Neal 6 thru 10 - Howard Carter, DeWayne Scales, Rickey Blanton, Leonard Mitchell, Stromile Swift
Torris Bright over Ethan Martin and Howard Carter? No way, Jose. You might as well have picked Fess Irvin. Well, ok that might be pushing it.
Well...I did say "my personal" list.... I've never seen Ethan Martin or Howard Carter....then again, I never saw Pettit or Pistol Pete either--but they are in the HOF, so those were easy picks....
