1. LOL

    George Bush...
  2. Football is as unpredictable as anything in life. Nick Saban would not have been successful without the support he received at LSU. Les Miles came into a great situation with support of the university and has done a wonderful job. There have been far more programs who have fallen on hard times after a good coach leaves then the success we've experienced under Coach Miles leadership. Just look at how Bama has struggled in recent years. I hope CLM does not leave if Michigan calls. If he does, I have full confidence LSU will find the right coach. Coaching candidates will line up with the opportunity to coach at LSU as compared to Alabama which always seems to have problems finding a good coach who will take the job. I think our biggest issue will be money. With what $aban was able to milk out of Bama's desperate situation the pay scale is way out of line right now. I think the choice for LSU is another up and coming coach like Saban and Miles have been or a solid NFL coach who wants to coach college at LSU.

For now it is game week and VT is coming calling, it is time to beat some Mountaineer butts.:geauxtige :geauxtige[/QUOTE]

Uh, we're playing the Virginia Tech "Hokies" this week. Not the West Virginia "Mountaineers.":dis:
  4. I agree with you Red and it sucks, but that's the reality of the situation. Michigan fan is already clamoring for Les. Hell, a UM caller on Jim Rome just 'warred' Les Miles. Even if Les comes out as says he's not interested, will anyone believe him given all that's happened with 'other coaches' saying the same thing? It's a no win situation. As said before, it sucks, but the team is probably stuck with having to deal with this the whole year.

Maybe that 'other coach' will be interested in going back to the Big 10.
  5. Yes, it does suck. It's what we get to deal with when we have one of the best programs in college football. I will take that.
  6. True. It sucks from the standpoint of it becoming a distraction because it will be one. We just have to hope the players don't take that distraction to ther field. I have EVERY confidence that they won't.
  7. You guys do know that ESPN will be checking this site out this week and then report on Gameday that the rumor mill has started in Baton Rouge about who will replace Miles if he goes to Michigan.
  8. Hopefully by the time they have dealt with recruiting they get a clue about how this really is a business. I guess it comes down to the leaders on the team getting through to the guys that struggle after the coaches have had their turn.
  9. Me, . . . I think Les is going to smile and let this Michigan talk do its work. Nick did the same thing at LSU when he was linked to every big college or NFL job that came open. He did not squash it, just said," I'm playing football right now." Still Jimmy Sexton was able to parley the talk into a series of major contract enhancements from LSU. Basically Nick got everything he asked for because he had clear alternatives to consider. Les will do the same thing.

Plus the attention is never bad. Last spring there was still some grumbling around the SEC about Les still having something to prove. Couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper sack. Now he's being talked up as a candidate for the Michigan job on every forum and in every newspaper.

The SEC message boards are full of posts saying "Your coach is leaving, your coach is leaving". BFD. We heard that for all five years that Nick was here and I ask them now what I asked them then, "Why isn't anybody interested in hiring your coach?" Top coaches will be linked with top openings, valid or not . It's unusual for the coaching shell game to start this early in the season, but we are used to it.

And if Les leaves to coach at his Alma Mater, who can blame him, it's a rare opportunity for a coach. But LSU will have had two straight coaches who won big and left the team loaded with talent in a fertile recruiting area. LSU will get 80 applications again, will get serious inquiries from top coaches, and will just go out and get the best coach available again. But I think Les sticks a while. His program is hitting on all cylinders and if he brings home trophies this season, he has contract incentives that could boost his salary immensely.

Darth Visor and The Nicktator both left winning programs for greener pastures and it was a mistake. Les may be wiser than that. Fear The Cap.
  10. It is defintley a possibility. I was listening to ESPN radio and a Michigan fan called in and said they wanted Les Miles as their next coach and Jim Rome agreed with him. Just makes me wonder how many up in Michigan feel the same. If Miles does leave I want LSU to get someone who has had success in the NFL. LSU will be a premier job and there will be many many top coaches and up and coming coaches that will love the chance to coach here.
