I could buy this. Third party candidates have had a lot of support from the military since the first Bush admin.
This is the only decent statement in your entire post. Do some research and I'd bet you would be surprised how many "individual soldiers" have gone on to be great leaders during our country's history. So, are you saying that the "individual soldiers" are not capable of forming their own opinions? At one time while in the Marines, half of my squad (twelve Marines plus a squad leader) had their college degrees. Two others were working toward their degrees. Now, I'm on record as stating that having a college degree is not a good example of intelligence, but I would wager that my Marines were just as intelligent as our commissioned officers. What...do you believe we're nothing but a bunch of brain washed robots? You would be mistaken. Some chose to get their commissions, other are happy to enter the enlisted ranks. Just because some chose enlisted doesn't mean they're morons. This is a good example of how the American society has deteriorated. We, as a people, pale in comparison to the generation that endured WWII. They were willing to sacrifice for their country and the sacrifices they made make us and this war look silly. There were plenty of reasons why we were not successful in Vietnam. Not the least of which were the scum bag politicians, weak general officers, and a screwed up populace back home. Many people today, and it sounds a lot like you're one of them, would love nothing more than to see the war in Iraq end like Vietnam. I pray we're not that stupid. There is too much at stake and it would only disgrace those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. Can't you people come up with some newer talking points. I really can't understand how people like you can side with the likes of Michael Moore and George Soros. How do you repeat the garbage they promote and still respect yourself? "yawn" I respect, and trust, his opinion a lot more than yours. You know, it's a shame that they leave you out of all of the national security briefings. How dare they not call and consult you before making strategic decisions on how to deal with our enemies? Narrow? NARROW! Just who the hell do you think you are? This young man knows more about what's going on in this world than you ever could. He volunteered to join the military, went off to war for his country, lost his leg in combat, spent God only knows how long in a second rate hospital, probably spent months enduring painful rehab, and then with his "NARROW" perspective, came back and defended the war effort. And you say he is only behaving "like a good soldier should". You, sir, are not worth the blood he shed. That's OK though, this young man, and people like him, will continue to sacrifice for you anyway.
even bill o'reilly on fox concedes we should not have gone into iraq. he says obama was right on the biggest vote in the last ten years. here's obama interview 1, see comments at 3:00 - 3:30. "it's the wrong battlefield" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYYPhQRovPU
Plenty of people realize the error of going into Iraq but also realize how important the method of our withdrawal is to that country's safety. When Obama opposed the war, he did not hold a national office. When he became senator, he opposed the surge, and disputed Petreus' testimony that it was working. He has also disputed that the surge worked up until the very interview you linked. There he admitted it had worked fabulously, but hemmed and hawed in order to protect his position of voting against it. That's not unreasonable to expect a politician in an ongoing campaign to not say the words "I was wrong", but it doesn't change that he was wrong about it. This is a decision of what to do when the sh*t hits the fan. One that Bush himself got wrong until McCain pushed him in to it. This decision combined with his recent mistake over Georgia shows some of how he may govern, and should be considered, along with his opposition to the war.
