Really? Well, I sure hope it's during the day/afternoon. No sense having three conference title games all in the evening (Big 12, SEC, ACC). Also, the Big XII needs to come back to Texas, Houston specifically. Seems like it's been in Kansas City the past 99 years or so. **EDIT: More on the ACC game: ** EDIT 2: Spoke too soon: the 2005 Big XII game is in Houston. Wow, if Texas gets to that game 11-0...they really are set up very well to get to the Rose Bowl. If Mack doesn't do it this year, he sucks.**
I'm pretty sure the first Saturday in December is the last day a game can be scheduled per NCAA rules so in the future we could have one heck of a lot of conference championship games on that day.
why is nobody talking about Texas A&M in the Big 12. I know we hate them, but they will be a strong contender next year with Texas losing so much on defense and OU losing White, Clayton, and Cody. LSU should win the SEC, but Florida and Bama will give us a run I think. The Big 10 is all Iowa's to lose...only Michigan will press them with their sophmore QB. The ACC is a two pony show...Miami and Fla St. too predictible PAC 10 is weak as usual...USC should roll unless Az State or Wash St shocks the world. Notre Dame will be decent under Weiss.
I've taken a closer look at Texas and came away with thinking they're in a similar position now that USC was in last year: keep winning and you're in, no matter what. Yes, Texas may not start the season ranked in the top two (though they could), but if they go 11-0 they'll be there even if there are 3 or more undefeateds left. Why? Simple: Texas has one of the "sexiest" schedules and setups among the serious title contenders. No non-conference game this season even approaches Texas-Ohio State, so the media will hype it to the heavens and Texas will get mad, mad props if they exit the Horseshoe with a win. A few weeks later, they get another positive media blast if Mack finally slays Bob Stoops. Finally, Reliant Stadium will be overflowing with burnt orange for the Big XII title game, giving them a great home-field advantage in that game. They'll start strong thanks to the positive pub of last year's Rose Bowl win and will finish strong if they go to the conference title game undefeated. That's all Mack has to do. Win...which is something he knows all too well is easier said than done.
Johnson is a huge loss. Aaron Harris will not be near the force nor leader on the field for Texas. The Texas D was not great last year...wait until this year.
