Al.com reporter Craig Stephenson, who is considered one of the best sports writers in the state, based his rankings on who he thought would be the starting QBs if the season was to start today. The biggest surprise to me was seeing Johnson ranked as the starter considering he's competing against two very talented QBs, including Conner Weigman, who was the top-ranked QB in the country. He said he ranked Max ninth based on his starting experience and success at LSU, which his stats weren't that bad when you consider the circumstances. As for Brennan rankings, I would have ranked him a little higher, but he makes a good point that Brennan has looked solid when he started, but hasn't been able to stay healthy.

    Here are the rankings:
    1. Bryce Young (No. 2 IMO, a product of being on the best team)
    2. Hendon Hooker, Tenn (Too high, hasn't proven himself)
    3. Will Rogers, MSU
    4. Will Levis, Kentucky
    5. Spencer Rattler, S. Carolina (Way too high, hasn't done anything yet)
    6. Stetson Bennett, Georgia (he would have been my No. 1)
    7. KJ Jefferson, Arkansas (Would rank him 4/5)
    8. Anthony Richardson, Florida (too high, needs to show consistency)
    9. Max Johnson, Texas A&M
    10. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
    11. Zach Calzada, Auburn (I would have ranked him 7/8)
    12. Myles Brennan, LSU
    13. Mike Wright, Vanderbilt
    14. Jack Abraham, Missouri

I think Brennan is ranked pretty fairly. As a Starter he's 1-2 against the weakest SEC teams we could play. Not to mention he missed the entire 2021 season because he's oft-injured. If he starts I'll be surprised if he makes it as far as the Bama game.

    Starter Brennan:

    Mississippi St.-L
    Vandy - W
    Missouri- L

I'm hoping that they start Nuss, backed up or even split with Daniels. I think Nuss has more potential & throws a really nice pass. The future, imo. Daniels could play a few series & , could be a spark when needed. He does move the chains with his feet & arm. I'd put in Brennan in to finish up games.

Brennan has been in the transfer portal. Nuss hasn't been., though rumored constantly. If he is put behind Brennan. I suspect we'll lose him to maybe a UF, Auburn or Baylor.

But ultimately up to who best fits Denbock's Offense.

I like Nuss too, but he can be very reckless sometimes and that will get you beat in the SEC. Maybe Denbock can get him to make better decisions. You make a great point about Brennan, but I think I just pull for him because he seems like he's been there forever and deserves a legitimate shot. It will be interesting how it all plays out because the QBs that don't start will most likely be headed to the portal.

Whoever is in the bench is obviously the better QB! Haha.

Prob based on the fact that hes been on the team for 13yrs and only has a few hundred yards.

Wonder what the vegas odds are on him breaking another appendage on random flipflop?

BK talked to the Baton Rouge Rotary Club the other day. Someone asked him about our QB's and he said, "We have a lot of them."

It's great to have a stacked QB room, but in some ways it's not because you know one or two are going to be hitting the transfer portal if they don't win the job. If the NCAA approves new legislation, which I think is being considered, and allows players to transfer as much as they would like and still be eligible immediately, team rosters are going to be flipped every year with players looking for a chance to start elsewhere!

The record is the record, but the defense lost both of those games. He had pretty solid numbers, especially the Missouri game, IIRC.
