I disagree, unless Auburn really falls on its face (doubtful), Alabama will not even be the best team in the state much less a premiere power again. Auburn is getting most of the blue chip recruits from your state and they are basically tossing you the state left overs, then they go to the states of Georgia and Florida and pick up great recruits too.
I'm not going down the road of trying to explain a booster's actions. Have you even considered how you look when you are talking about someone who has passed? Honestly, it's pretty sad...
We have the same "What are the elite programs" arguments over at our forum.... all the time... too many, actually. I've listened to most of the arguments and have opted to go with this one (from one of our posters): "The only people who have a fix on which programs are elite are the 17 and 18 year old 4 & 5 star recruits who get to pick one. Few of them know anything more about Bear Bryant and Woody Hayes than they do Kennedy and Oswald. So look to the top recruiting schools over the last few years to separate the "new elite" from the ones your grandfather liked. Plus, it's amazing how these kids list the same schools, whether they plan to go there or not." Schools that make most every 5 star's list: USC, Miami, FSU, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Michigan, tOSU, Georgia, Notre Dame. With few exceptions, the rest of us are wannabes.
His point is that he is very sensitive and if you want to offer a drink to a dead person you should ask him if it will hurt his feelings.
