Alley Broussard was the projected starter over Joe Addai this year, but he got hurt. Our second string runningback currently outranks every other running back in the SEC. I think it's a safe prediction that Alley has a very good shot at being a premiere back in the SEC next year. As does Darby, but I'm not going to make a bold prediction on who will be better. Only time will tell. For now, I'll stick with Joseph Addai :thumb:
But what are the actual chances of the getting it done this year? If getting it done means a SEC championship that is still probable if they can beat us. What do you guys think are the actual chances of Alabama beating USC, Va Tech, or Texas for national title if that scenario happens? I would pull for the Tide if that happened but I wouldn't put any money on it.
I don't know much about the Bama team, but just looking at the Rivals list of recruits for you guys over the past five years doesn't show the talent you are proclaiming. You look like you have some good recruits, but nothing like what we've brough in consistently over the past five years...
We will need some linebackers to step up in order to have a solid D. I think we will be OK at LB. Ali Highsmith is on his way to being one of the best in the SEC, and I here good things about this freshman Beckwith (I think that's his name)
I agree, I don't remember bama having a great recruiting class anytime recently. Maybe they have picked up a lot of sleepers. But it seems like they may be getting a little carried away.
If i could read your post Bamatide12 i might be able to comment on it. My diabetic eyes cant seem to separate the book written without a space in it. And i will take LSU returning talent against Bama returning talent next year.
I don't care how many stars a recruit had, you don't know how good he is going to be until he steps foot on the college football field. Miles seems to be a big proponent of building depth by playing inexperienced guys once a game is in hand (assuming our first string guys are to the point they need to be). LSU has very talented guys waiting in the wings, but what makes me feel better is seeing them get playing time this season. Bama loses a 5th year senior QB - 'nuff said. No team loses a leader like that & replaces him without dropoff, especially a Bama team with no proven backup behind him. LSU lost Mauck & we had a dropoff even though the replacement (Russell) was much higher touted in HS, just as Bama will... Next year's SEC race will be very interesting. The 3 big hitters, Bama Auburn & LSU, all lose some big playmakers to graduation/NFL - the key will be which team replaces their guys the best.
You can say that for individual players, but when you talk about recruiting on a whole and recruiting clases as a whole, stars do matter....
Sure, you could say a recruits stars don't matter, because they really don't. Stars do nothing but get them the scholarship. But if you look at the most successful teams year-in and year-out, you will notice a correlation in the quality of their recruiting classes. They don't end up at those schools by coincidence.
I didn't mean to say that recruiting stars don't mean anything, just that they aren't an exact prediction of their college success, only a guess, and on top of that - talent isn't enough for most kids, they need experience on the field and most are usually not immediate impact players - that's why I was takling about why I care more about Miles getting them PT, of course I'm able to say this because I know they are talented, so I think the 2 go hand in hand.
