DJ Hall ranked 47 Brandon LaFell ranked 43 Early Doucet ranked 97 No Other AL WR's in top 100 Period. Source :geauxtige
tigerdo, good get. :thumb: Red Elephants, even those numbers are deceiving- because of our depth- we spread it around more. As Black Jack pointed out, we don't just have one good receiver, we have several......we're a team, not a one man show. Our players are not about "Numbers" they're about playing for a National Championship. Don't hate brutha, don't hate. :hihi:
13 LSU players have recieved a pass this season. 15 Alabama players have recieved a pass this season.... DJ Hall- 13 catches: 97ypg, 22.4ypc, 2TD Matt Caddell- 9 catches: 91ypg, 10.1ypc, 1TD Mike McCoy- 10 catches: 22.7ypg, 6.8ypc, 0TD Brandon LaFell- 11 catches: 62.3ypg, 17ypc, 1TD Early Doucet- 15 catches: 76.5ypg, 10.2ypc, 2TD Demetrius Byrd- 4 catches: 54ypg, 27ypc, 1TD That link that Tigerdro found also has Darren McFadden listed at #23 in rank among RB's...Many in the nation think he's the best in the country. Ray Rice at Rutgers is listed #1. Is he better than McFadden? Do you see my point? I'm not taking anything away from the LSU recievers. I'm actually a fan of Doucet. He's a blast to watch...But IMHO, I think that DJ is better. :thumb:
Owned huh? All night and no reply on my last post? Explain how Hall is anymore of a go-to guy than Doucet who has 2 more catches on the year...
Thank God this isn't about the game. 24 hr rule, ya know? :thumb: Those numbers are nice, but do little to rank which WR is better than another in terms of talent. (I want no part of this debate, it's useless this early in the season based on 3 games.) I say that based on this... You see receivers ranked very high on that list from schools like Tx. Tech, Hawaii, etc. I'll grant they are doing a great job with receptions, yards after the catch, etc. At this point, those number reflect more the system they run than their true athletic ability, not to mention the competition they've faced. All the receivers mentioned in this thread are good. If they weren't they wouldn't be mentioned as often as they are as fans around the NCAA discuss different teams. As to the LSU game RE, it's way, way too early to be talking about how we'll match up with them. Earlier this year, I would have put our team as a whole behind Auburn and LSU in terms of how they'll end up at the end of the season. While I felt comfortable pre-season saying we were even, if not better than Arkansas, I couldn't and wouldn't say the same about the other two teams. Now, if things continue the way they are down on the plains, this very well could be a different West race than previously thought. We found out some things this past weekend. We'll find out a lot more this upcoming weekend vs UGA, which, on paper, tends to lead me to believe we've got a good chance at winning this one as well. But, it's only Monday, and I've just started looking at the games intangibles.
Doucet sat out a whole game! He hasn't played a full game this year because of blow outs. How many quarters has DJ played in? Plus Doucet playing wasn't against cup cakes like Vandy and Western Carolina. I am not saying who's best but your arguement doesn't make sense.
Bama played 12 against WC, only 6 against Arky, LSU played 9 against VT, the point is.... Crabtree from TTU is the real deal, been watching him since he set foot on campus. The kid is spooky. That said, like Terry said, all are good players and the quibbling at this point is just that. Besides, no one has mentioned down field blocking.
