The guys who make the show intend for people to take it seriously, unlike Jon. Therefore the media (or x-fire tools, in this case) have a responsibilty to go after the important issues.

A responsible, concerned, opinionated American citizen.

As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with you. It IS the ppls fault for buying into everything they see. But, given that the media know this, they structure their entire existence around this fact.

When did I say it was x-fires fault again? They have a great opportunity to call fgureheads on their BS and continually blow it. That is their fault. Period.

Honestly, the response I made was to one you made (which I quoted) in response to a comment I made about him not being a political favoritist.

You regularly watch the show of a man you seem to despise? If you DO watch his show, you wouldnt make claims of him being 'loud' on particular views because that is simply not true.

He not really any different than Letterman or Leno or O'Brien. He lampoons whoever is in office and in the news. Right now it is Bush, a few years ago it was Clinton.

These guys are motivated by getting laughs and viewers. I'm sure they have personal political feelings, but I doubt it ever prevents them from taking a shot at anyone that will get a laugh.

He was kind of silly not to recognize that Crossfire is just another entertainment show trying to score with an audience just like him. It's not a real news show, either.

i dont mind the daily show, it is pretty funny sometimes, and very very funny occasionally. i am only saying that jon stewart himself often dosent know what he is talkin about, and i think he can be pretty pompous about it.

if you want political discourse, call up your smartest friends and see what they have to say. read foreign newspapers or one of the zillion politicl blogs. find a news source that pleases you. dont pretend that one news source that annoys you is "hurting america" because you dont like it. the way i see it, the more information sources, the better. even if they are dumb and pointless arguing hacks like crossfire.

if you really care (and i am not saying i do), then you should be laying responsibility on people to educate themselves. if a couple jerks want to argue on tv, good for them. i am not gonna whine to them that they are hurting america. i welcome them to add their stupid opinions to the market of ideas.

now i have agreed completely with 157 and red in the same thread.

also, its not the politics of stewart that are so silly. its his pompous attitude. i like some partisan peeps who i dont agree with, like janeane garofalo.

also i thik i read that stewart voted for kerry and sides with him over bush, so i think my guess about where he stands is accurate.

The only thing I disagree with in that post is that you say JS doesnt know what he's talkin about. He really just comments on newstories by being a smartas$, and a damn good one. I dont find that he ever tries to be the 'informant' to the public. Oh and about him being 'pompous'. if you dislike him on those grounds, then I suppose you also dislike hannity and o'rightly.

I guess I just LOVE IT when someone tells these worthless little pissants to F-off. As I've made clear, newsmedia types make me sick to my stomach Jon called them out and embarassed them on their own show. And for that, among other things, I applaud him.

Yes he did vote for Kerry, much like many centrists, libertarians, and even conservatives.

i definitely do not take them very seriously, although i do agree with them on occasion. they are entertainers. all of these people are just trying to entertain, make money and say what they want to say. none of them are "hurting america". stupid arguments do not hurt america. softball questions do not hurt america.

maybe stupid people who take shows like this serious enough to accuse them of "hurting america" are the ones who have the problem.

    Red,
I'm not giving you any examples, this is stupid, everyone knows what I was talking about.

Like the things the Clinton Administration did was something new?
    Give me a break!

    You are the one misinformed.
When the Terry Schiavo case was going on they mentioned that the courts
ruled in favor of Elians Gonzalez family, I also saw this on the internet btw.

The Clinton Administration went in ahead against the courts will and kidnapped the kid.
Thats why some people care about Elian Gonzalez case.
The Executive branch deliberatly ignored the justice system.
You do the research my friend, talking about pre-invasion rulings.
Something other than the presidents lawyers conveniently fixing everything!

Sandy Burger didn't break the law?

Its more than a little boy going back to Cuba, If you think i care so much for this little kid instead of the way the Clinton Justice department handled this
    you must be a fool.

    Prove me wrong Red,
You didn't remember squat about this case when I first mentioned it.
Trust me, you don't want to go hear, there is more than enough evidence
    on my side.

"Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, a Clinton ally, dismisses this warrant and says the administration, “acted lawlessly.” As he told Fox News: “It’s a dangerous day for all Americans.”

I think that it 'hurts America' if politicians are continually reassured that no one will bother them with 'real' questions. Blame whomever you want, but as public servants, they should not be allowed to get away with their continuous doublespeak. It's sickening.

The judge may have disbarred him in 2001, but it was for acts committed while he was President.

The Department of Justice’s contempt for the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals insults the separation of powers. DOJ was not deterred by the court’s refusal to grant an order to transfer Elian from his great-uncle to his father. When a three-judge federal panel rejected her plan, Jackboot Janet executed it anyway. Of course, all this could have been avoided had Reno simply waited until May 11 to make her pro-family-reunification case before a judge.

    HaHa, good luck Red.
I know you are going to try and make excuses such as this is an editorial but guess
what, there is more evidence of this stuff happening out there at the Liberal news
    sites.

You can try an discredit this but you can't discredit all the evidence out there that
proves this to be the truth.

Like I said, the Clinton Administration could only pick on innocent Americans
and law abiding citizens with the Alphabet Agencies but when it came to the
real mccoy, terrorism, they didn't do squat.
Lawless and ruthless, so many people went to jail around Bill and Hillary,
he is the Dems Nixion not to mention Sandy Hamburger busted for tampering
with classified materials how many years after they left office?

You see Red, it really isn't about Elian at all, its about abuse of power.
