incorrect, there is not data that demonstrates that hurricanes are more intense as a result of global warming, and that was the dude's point. the guy (trenberth) who speaks as a representative of ipcc was making it up. landsea is the expert who was writing the opinion for the ipcc about this particular topic (warming & hurricane frequency), but was ignored by the non-specialist who was the designated mouthpiece and lead author for the ipcc. there was in fact no substantial evidence or consensus that warming was increasing hurricane frequency, but the lead author reports it anyways, in effect, lying.
Martin you have made some really ridiculous statements but this beats them all. I can understand someone being an atheist. I cannot understand the hatred and vile you seem to have for any person of faith. Mother Theresa was a living saint who accomplished more in a single day than you will accomplish in your lifetime. She did not spread misery; she spread hope and compassion to all those who were graced by her life.
Great, it looks like we have a consensus here. We can all agree that Al Whore is one of the most un-deserving nominees in the history of the NPP. Furthermore, we can agree that the NPP has lost significant respect and been tarnished immensely due to nominating and awarding previously mentioned morons with this not so prestigious award. Good deal then...carry on. Isnt it nice when a plan comes together?
I was just pointing out that your assertion about my opinion on Kofi and the UN was based on W's war was incorrect. I have NEVER like the UN or the NCAA because of double standards they seem to have. Dale Brown is still my favorite LSU coach especially with the NS soap opera that has recently developed but Miles is gaining Miles on myself. I don't disagree here but someone has to come forward to invest money to get the ball rolling. My only disagreement here is that no one knows if this will have any effect. I guess you could say we would have a cleaner environment. Interesting, I think you are different than most. At least you don't seem to be a sheep looking for a sheppard like most. Here is a wall street journal opinion peace by FLEMMING ROSE AND BJORN LOMBORG on the same subject. http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110009552 http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,237617,00.html http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,245581,00.html Another problem I have with people on your side is that some have very little tolerance for science or an opposing viewpoint. This is my problem with Al Gore, Jay Rockefeller, Olympia Snowe and Heidi Cullen from the weather channel.
One more thing if i may say. Just because a majority of scientists or so called experts seem to agree doesn't mean they are always correct. I bet some of us could brain storm and come up with scientific theories that a majority of scientists agreed on that were incorrect. You mention political nature and you would be correct. Keep in mind the news articles from information above. Many of these scientists do agree but some no doubt gave in to the pressure to not take a stand a risk losing their jobs. Speaking of that, if the majority chose to disagree they just might be out of a job anyway. When I see a paragraph like above I'm always skeptical. It is far easier and human nature for sheep to go down the same road looking for a sheppard versus being different or opposed to the status quo.
i dont hate "any person of faith". some of my favorite people in the world have faith. please try and be sensible. saints do not really exist. she didnt spread hope, she embraced suffering. remember, she didnt really run hospitals or places of healing, she ran places where people came to die. she then tried to save the dying people's souls with fundamentalist caholicism. if a loved one of yours was sick, the last person you want her to see is mother teresa, she prefers a dead catholic to a live non-believer. of course this makes sense, if you believe in hell, does it not? death is not a tragedy to those who believe in the afterlife, this is proven regularly by fundamentalists of all kinds. mother teresa thinks of suffering and death and god's plan. if you like death and suffering, then of course mother teresa is your hero, and that makes sense if you believe in heaven. yunno penn and teller actually did a pretty good piece on mother teresa, you should peep that if you get the chance.
So you admit your claim about her giving her donations to the Vatican are bullchit and you have no figures to support it. She was not a medical researcher! But there are dozens of hospices, shelters for the poor, clinics, etc out there that she did create. This is what she is famous for, not being Doc Pennington. Another unattributed, uncorroborated statement. Is there no documentation of her making this statement? Nuns have jobs, didn't you know that? Many of them are nurses and teachers. You can't be this stupid. No it isn't. I'd be on your side if you were objecting to the concept of saints and miracles. And that's all that article you quoted did. You still haven't backed up your contention that she did not establish many hospices and shelters for the poor or that she was a fraud or that she gave all her money to the vatican. Especially I want to hear about your proof that she was a scam artist. Not more martin rhetoric.
Why do you fear opposing opinions? This is a forum for political debate and we must have at least two sides for that. Get in there and shoot down his ideas. Wishing he would go away is no fun at all.
I'll never understand folks that think a few dissident voices somehow invalidate a scientific consensus. We had several global warming threads already where is was pointed out that most of the dissenters are in the employ of the Energy Industry. The IPCC reports are as complete a scientific consensus on a topic as you will find.
