you arent kidding about that one. al gore is a wonderful whipping boy, mother teresa is placed on a pedestal beyond reproach. i think you could make an argument that winning the nobel peace prize means the opposite of what it intends to mean. generally it means you are hurting the world.

Lets get back to Gore and the stupid NPP....

I would contend that whoever it is you know is in the VAST majority. No issue in the USA has angered the Jewish community like this one has. Just google around a bit and see how many "pro-carter" jews you come across. Not many.

This guy is quite representative of how most Jews feel about carter:

"Dr. Kenneth W. Stein, professor of contemporary Middle Eastern history and political science and the director for the Institute for the Study of Modern Israel at Emory University, had worked personally with Carter in the 1970s, and was the Middle East Fellow of the Carter Center of Emory University. His resignation ended a 23-year association with the Carter Center.

Stein’s two-page letter of resignation, which has circulated publicly, asserted that Carter’s book is “replete with factual errors, copied materials not cited, superficialities, glaring omissions and simply invented segments.”

Now show me where "many members of the Jewish community have great respect" for Carter?

Gore made nothing. You need to check your facts. Gore wasnt the producer, director, executive producer....nothing. He simply narrated a movie that was about his book. Futhermore, the words "definitive" and "more likely than not" do not belong together. :dis:

Compared to who...Hussein? Arafat? Annans leadership at the UN was a disaster. Under his charge controversy at the UN was common place. Sexual harrasment was swept under the rug, oil for food fraud, blaming Israel for purposely targeting UN troops, flawed UN peacekeeping missions all over the world, Publicly praising Hezbollah and comparing them to an elected democratic government, Rawanda...should I go on? Sorry dude, Annan is far from a "good dude". He is an incompetant fool boardering on enemy status.

I was hoping that everyone would just ignore Mr. Libertad76, and he'd go somewhere else.

Of course googling around is no way to conduct research. However, since you made such a sweeping statement in absence of "ANY" research on the Jewish communities feelings you would be well served to "google around". Your failure to adequately look at the issue before delivering such an ignorant assertion about Jews is obvious. Dig a little deeper unless you just want to tit for tat but you will run out of tits before I run out of tats.

Annan is a no brainier and you left yours at the door in regards to this clown. I challenge you to show me evidence to refute of my claims of Annans misdeeds. What I posted about Annan is fully documented and easily obtained. He is a worthless fool and well, if you like him so much...hmmm..birds of a feather. Nah, never mind...Salty is right.

    GO LSU!

the ipcc is made up of scientists from all over the place, not the most powerful coutries in the world. in fact, i looked at their membership here (http://www.ipcc.ch/about/faq/IPCC Procedures.pdf) and many of their higher ups were from places like syria and morocco and bolivia. these are not the most powerful countries in the world.

committees are horrible and they generally produce groupthink and forced conclusions. plus the UN is incredibly incompetent. they are inclusive to a fault. it doesnt help anyone to add the voices the primitive third world countries, which is what most countries in the UN are. there are maybe 15 countries on earth that can tell their ass from a hole in the ground, all others should be completely ignored in all cases. of the 192 coutries in the UN, the overwhelming majority of them are complete wastelands, run by criminals and idiots.

crappy countries like things like kyoto because it affects the first world the most and exempts developing countries for the most part, that is why most countries that are a part of the ipcc stand to gain from furthering the global warming junk.

LOL @ Martin. Yup...pretty much sums up the cluster phunk known as the UN, most of its members and the forever waste of time "committee chit". I've been on enough of these committee's to choke a fuggin horse. They never get didly chit done and are rarely right because everyone is trying to compromise to please each other. Biggest waste of time possible.

BTW...as I recall there were numerous defections from members of the IPCC and reports that exposed faulty methodologies in both Gore's book and the IPCC.

Mike Stivic is in the house.

You decry "broad generalizations" and this is your signature?

you are incorrectly attributing my quotes to drc.

and yes, most countries are terrible. i dont know how you could argue otherwise. in college i wrote extensively about the UN and i know how generally miserable it is. the general assembly is basically a train wreck. and kofi annan is a corrupt madman.

consider the average member of the general assembly. they are poor, and inconsequential, their leader is moron and their economy is tiny. they send their elites to US universities in hopes they will learn how not to be an ass. many of them are communist and very few of them have a level of economic freedom worth a damn.

if you care about your grandchildren what you really should do is ignore everything the UN does and take every step possible towards less restrictive economic policy worldwide. free trade is the solution to basically every problem you can think of.

i have mentioned kyoto because it is the sort of global action that people believe this ipcc report requires. kyoto is an economy killer and would be a terrible, terrible thing for the world. it props up developing countries at the expense of developed countries, lowering the standard of living for everyone in the process. it shrinks the global economy.
