True, that's another problem. Really, these aren't bonuses but are deferred compensation.

Anyone who supported the bail out of AIG and other corporations has no right to criticize AIG besides the law makers didn't set any special rules that I'm aware of on how AIG was suppose to spend the money.
We are getting mighty close to socialism here when you consider how the government is starting to watch and dictate how this money is spent.
I hope we can do the same for the government and the government waste as well!

I supported the bailout of AIG and financial institutions (but no one else) but it's embarassing how it was done. No strings attached money and the taxpayers own 80% of the company with no say? That's ridiculous. I haven't paid close enough attention to know what executives have stayed and which ones have been changed but contracts should have been restructured when the money was given.

I agree. If taxpayers own 80% of the company, we should have specified the conditions of accepting the money, even if it was that all expenditures over $1 million have to be approved by the govt.

I am really not one for govt interference in private enterprise because I think precedent is deadly, but the govt crossed the Rubicon sometime ago. The idea that any of this money was dispensed without some common sense stipulations under Bush, is now compounded under Obama and absolutely leaves me scratching my head. When you hand money to a homeless guy, do you assume he is going to get his life on track with it? Or does it just tide him over for a day or two, while he continues in his habits?

Anyone noticing a constant here? Congress maybe??? How many times do you knock someone over the head before they put on a helmet?

I don't see business as the devil. They are doing what they are allowed to do. I see congress as the village idiot for allowing it and making us pay the freight.

    Agreed, except:

The bonuses weren't paid until Geithner gave the green light. The administration was not taken by surprise here. Obama's "outrage" is pure politics.
