1. This thread is exhausting.
  2. So is the 24/7 media sensationalism. The worm had turned now. The loudest morons are taking their turn in the hot seat.
  3. No, because a wall street journal reporter puts their name on a report in print vs an unidentified source in the white house. Of course here we are two days later and its all coming to light so there is no argument anymore. I win.
  4. I posted this in the Geithner thread but it belongs here:

Just a point of clarification: These were not bonuses. The AIGFP division is going to be shut down as soon as all of the CDS risk is off the books. Selected employees contractually agreed to stay on to finish the job since they had the knowledge and expertise necessary to wind down the book of business in the most efficient and expeditious manner. AIG, last February (2008), agreed to compensate them on 3/15/09 provided their work was satisfactory. At the appointed time, over half of the $2.7 Trillion exposure had been wiped out and AIG dutifully paid them as they were contractually obligated to do. AIG dutifully advised the Fed, as they were required to do, in several filings prior to and since the TARP and "bailout" loans. Nothing was done underhandedly.

This, my friends, is a creation of the media and politicians. It's much ado about nothing.

    Comments?
  5. If they asked me for the money back I would tell them to shove it up their a$$es.

Edit for clarity: But not literally of course because I wouldn't give it to them.

    That's my only comment.
  6. congrats, now you can move up to the intermediate special class:hihi:

Also that bill has no chance in the Senate.
  7. First Obama makes fun of special needs people and then his supporters do. What's this world coming to? Change you can believe in baby!
  8. It doesn't matter that it has no chance in the Senate. We all know it has no chance in the Senate. And if it did, it would be an unconstitutional bill of attainder. That's not the point.

The point is congress is allowed to treat us like slobbering morons, pretend outrage at something they did, single out a group that had nothing to do with it, and then pretend to go after them. It's all a dog and pony show meant to distract us and allow them to keep taking our tax $ at a greater rate than the day before.

Congress doesn't even pretend to be clever anymore. They are so blatant, it's sickening. Where is a sinkhole when you need it?
  9. Actually I would agree to give the money back as long as Chris Dodd and Barney Frank gave back the money they made off of Fannie May and Freddie Mac as well as campaign contributions that went to them and Obama.

What I find interesting is that more was made out of these so called bonuses and AIG than the whole Fannie May and Freddie Mac mess.
I think we need some hearings, subpoena Dodd and Frank as well as employees of these companies and find out the truth.
Once again the politicians make the private sector and private citizens targets, enemies of the state while they get off scott free with stunts they do.
If this country paid this much attention to the corruption of congress and the rest of this money from the stimulus bill we will all be better off!
  10. i understand the anger at congress, but really, there is no justification for these bonuses.

A lot of the same people on here defending AIG execs wanted to smash the auto unions ironclad contract. How many on here were morally outraged at the contract stipulation that laid off workers were collecting 90% of their wages for a period of time?

I just don't understand defending indefensible millionaires and wanting to gut the middle class union worker. :nope:
