I'm frustrated and confused about our relationship with Israel. I guess we play the big brother so that Israel doesn't litter the middle east with nukes and start WWIII? Didn't we push aside Muslims to make a state for Israel, yet we expect other Islamic nations to kiss our ass and accept it?

This just makes me think of what we did to the native Americans and how sometimes we're morally wrong; we resort to our more animal nature where might is right and all that matters is surviving.

Diplomacy only works with rational people. That's why it did not work with Hitler, Saddam and why it probably won't work with Ahmadinejad.

 

I think the UN was responsible for this.

Btw, if we didn't and hadn't protected Isreal WWIII could've already happened.
If you look at the other side of the coin, if we hadn't been there to sell weapons to Isreal, just maybe we would've had another Jewish holocaust.
Iran especially Ahmadinejad might've already caused WWIII by now.
One could argue we have prevented WWIII by being allies with Isreal.

Why do you have a problem with us being allies with Isreal but yet I guess you have no problems with us being allies with anyone else?

It is something that really intrigues me; I really should take the time to study up on it.

Yes, we also allowed slavery for a while but that doesn't have much to do with territory claims and disputes. No one alive today is directly responsible for what was done to native Americans, but I wonder if, as with our land grab as the US expanded to the west coast, there was little moral basis other than "Eat or be eaten," for taking possession of the lands we now call Israel. Is western defense of the state of Israel, "We have big sticks and it is our will that Israel exists?" Do we basically expect Muslim nations to submit to our strength?

I have an issue with spending American dollars abroad in most cases. We fund Israel, Egypt, and a slew of Islamic countries around Israel. Our money is going to both sides.
