Most of the time when Russell throws a long ball one of two things happen . It is incomplete or it is intercepted he gets a complete pass and you think he can do it all the time he is good but not that good . I say he is like Steve McNair right now , but, he will get better and next year hey he may even be great

I dunno maybe it was the gatorade they drank?

Playcalling wasn't bad at times, sucked at others but hey Jimbo has the job not me. I do think they are playing a little conservative at times..... open at others. No turnovers = big improvement. Dropped passes = bad very bad.

I would have to disagree. I think the play calling was pretty good with the exception of a couple of series. Last nights game was called better than any of the rest of our games I've seen this season. The problem was with the athletes; receivers were inconsistent and when they weren't Russell couldn't put it where they could catch it. The defensive line played great the first half, then let Auburn get back in it in the second half. I think we are getting close to being a team that can go out and play a good, solid 60 minute football game and I hope the next 2 games tune us up.

I agree with Craig. LSU didn't call enough early vertical routes to make Auburn pay. Jimbo was playing "scared" and conservative, trying NOT TO LOSE. It actually worked thanks to the leg of Chris Jackson. LSU ... Preseason ranked #1 WR Corps ... are sitting around not being used on vertical passing routes IS A F-ING DISGRACE, PURE AND SIMPLE ... THERE'S NO "SPLAINING" IT AWAY

    :dis:

That's a scary thought, but prolly correct, because they actually stuck to their plan.

I think this team ever learns to put a game plan featuring something that has a "HINT OF" a vertical passing attack together ... they can stomp some serious ass.

SOME WANNA BLAME THE QB & WRs FOR POOR EXECUTION ... Sure!

LSU coaching is failing to make it happen with the vertical passing game. LSU should be stomping opponents by scoring 40-50 a game.

We're talking execution here! Get me a chair, a rope ... and an LSU coach ... you know the one, that weasily lil bastid with the funny first name.

Thanks for taking the time to show all decrying supposed predictable play calling were decidedly wrong. And then that was more good info regarding the success of drives based on run/pass calls.

    Good stuff. :thumb:
