jr will throw it downfield if the coverage favors it and/or if the wr is open. he has shown that many times. he obviously has the authority to audible at the line. he'd be stupid to throw into coverage, so you take what the D gives. btw, too many of you act like our wrs are so great we should just throw hail marys every time. wake up! lsu's wrs are no better than auburns. the play calling is fine.

Injured shoulder and sprained wrist is what the post game press conference said. I can't ride a bike with a bum should and sprained wrist, I think I'll give him a bit of a break for beating a 1 loss Auburn team by only 3 pts :D

I once thought Saban handcuffed Fisher the last two years, but now I'm now so sure. We are every bit as conservative on offense this year as in the past few years.

It's hard to figure out why we are in a two TE, two WR set so much with all that speed at WR. To say this offense is vanilla is an understatement.

The biggest disappointment was going conservative after driving the ball inside the 30 on our last possession. Either Miles or Fisher decided to play for the tie by running the ball on 1st and 2nd down. We seemed more concerned with running clock than trying to score a TD.

A win is a win, but I think we're capable of scoring more points if we open up the offense...

But some of the younger players don't respond well to that style. You don't want a QB constantly looking over his shoulder wondering when he's gonna get pulled....

JMO, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the receivers are far more of the problem than J Russell is. Dropped balls, sloppy and inconsistent routes, no discipline in their blocking schemes ..... they still seem to be trying to find their identity.

Speed does not a good receiver corps make. The only plays I saw that would be considered JR's fault were those where he was under pressure. And you must give him credit - he didn't turn the ball over or give AU any opportunities, which a helluva improvement over the season to date.

When your D gives up a record number of rushing yards, the offensive playcalling is not the problem.

Bingo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great post. It's a combination of things but the WR's are the biggest culprit IMO.

And for those that say we didn't go downfield at all, did you watch the same game I did?

It is always good to get a thought from an outside source. It is hard for any offense to look good when you drop 1st down passes and touchdown passes it will take steam out of any drive. I thought Jamarcus played very well again especially in the 2nd half.

I'm trying to figure out someting here. I've seen several quotes like this and several that said run, run and pass on 3rd. Which one is correct? And if we actually pased on first down almost 50% of the time, how can either of these statements be true?

cajdav, the one that is correct can only be determined in hindsight.

That should tell you alot about the individuals making the statements, eh? :hihi:

I guess you can sign me up to those in line to "kiss your ass" except your head is already buried so far up there, there's no room for my lips.

I guess the play calling in last year's game against Auburn, that resulted in us only putting up 9 points, is, in your opinion, WAY better than the 17 points in regulation that we put up this year.

Yes, I understand that 7 came by way of special teams--but if that's the case, you have to look at the 19-7 defeat at the hands of Florida two year's ago in which our only offensive TD came thanks to a Skyler Green punt return.

Last year's 9 points vs Auburn and the 7 points vs Florida in '03 was put up by a coaching staff that you want to judge any and all staffs by from here on out.

Get a life, man. Remove your head from your anus (so that the rest of us that disagree with you have a better target to kiss) and enjoy the win.
