china is not emboldened they are not gonna do shit with taiwan. we havent and dont fail military missions. we fail at nation building. and that has nothing to do with taiwan where any war would have the whole of taiwan allied and thankful for us. russian and china know that afghanistan is not a real country, its not a failure to not turn it into switzerland
There’s much truth in what you say. However aggressive countries like China could perceive us as weak and unable to or unwilling to support Taiwan. It’s happened before. Hitler thought Western Europe weak, Russia thought us weak in 1949 (?) when it armed N Korea to invade the south. Russia again in 1979 when they invaded Afghanistan. If China sees us as weak they may try for Taiwan. Remember it’s a “province “ of China and the desire and imperative in the CCP is to bring its lost province back. It’s moves in the South China Sea and other places are to isolate Taiwan and weaken it. I think it would fail but it would be bloody. I’ve been to Taiwan and they won’t go softly into the night.
