Jerel Myers cross-trained at quarterback during the '99 campaign, his freshman year...This was under DiNardo, and it was only for goal-line/redzone situations...

This isn't unheard of, but to think they'd give a single rep to someone other than Russell or Flynn is absurd...They will use every single snap and every single rep and every single throw to evaluate...They'll have "The Treatment" quite possibly...having two cameras trained on their every move in practice, they'll be analyzed so damn closely...

Agreed. To write off Russel would be rediculous. He is a Freshman. I know we all wish he could have had a strong year this year and play like a vet, but he didn't. Also, he didn't even start every game.

I hope to god we get RP (it looks like we will from what i am hearing). You can never had too much depth at the QB position and he looks like he would be more than adaquate to come in we need him too. If i was asked though to put money on the best posible senario that gives us the best chance to win next year, there is no doubt that that senario is Russel coming out strong next year and taking control of this team. I really hope we aren't put in a position to HAVE to use any of our other QB's as anything other than garbage time. Like it or not Russel will be the only QB on our roster that has played in a college game. I think that we would be okay with whoever coach Saban put under center, but i hope that it is Russell.

Wolf, Flynn has played in a college game - even has a touchdown.

I gues i should rephrase that then. Russel will be only QB on the roster who has acctually played some meaningfull snaps. The game was put in his hands to win or lose. I like Flynn and RP (what i've seen) and am in no way saying they can't get it done. I am just saying that it is kinda dumb to say it looks like Russel won't pan out. He may not, but it is way too early to make an assinine coment like that.

Thanks for pointing that out though. I live in Illinois and can't see all the games. I am thinking about getting ESPN Gameplan next year.

Not no..........but HELL NO. Saban hates the option & has stated it many times. There is a reason these kids weren't recruited as qb's in the SEC....they are great athletes, not quarterbacks. Our qb's will be fine next year. JR got his feet wet and is getting extra practice while preparing for our bowl game, then you throw in spring practice & fall camp and these kids(JR & MF) will be ready to lead us next year.

Swerved It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I think the QB situation will be fine next year, even without any new additions. Both Russell and Flynn will get more practice time, and one of them will step up and lead the offense.

My concern is more with the defense and the key players we're gonna lose. But even with that, I think we should be ok.

Good thing Auburn wrote off Cambell after how terrible he played before he matured a little bit. Some of you guys need to get a clue
