When people say this I dunno why they use the word "organized", as if somehow it's fine as long as it is not organized.

    Be
Because you can be religious and not be associated with one of the large corrupt religious organizations. That's why I say it and it's "fine" either way, just a matter of preference. Just like it's "fine" if you're an atheist.

Beyond what we believe to be "fine" or not, the real issue is whether you are a rational person or a superstitious kook that doesn't care and will just believe whatever, Islam, Christianity, whatever, regardless of how organized or personal your myths are.

The issue is not that Islam has misinterpreted gods wishes, it's that people shouldn't pretend to ever know gods wishes in any circumstance, ever.

When a person is religious, it's "fine" in the sense that they are a fucking idiot. It's ok to be a fucking idiot, it's fine.

The only difference between a moderate Christian and bin laden is what they think God tells them. And clearly a Christian is on board with the idea that God wants us to do things for him.

I guess all those famous scientist who were also Christians are loons.

It's funny to me. I am not religious at all, but there are highly intelligent people of all religions who have done many great things in the name of science.

The only loons are those who adamantly discredit that.

At this point in history the number of important scientists that believe is very close to zero.

Not more than I think. I know a lot about this.

Even Francis Collins has been discussed endlessly by red and me years ago. I know the numbers. I know who believes and who doesn't. I know socia scientists are less likely to be athiest than physicists. I know soft scientists and women are more likely to believe. And among the best, the guy who is gonna figure out how black holes work, or invent the hyper loop, are athiest. It's a requirement for elite serious thought.

You confuse the existence of a higher being and religion. Religion is man made and manipulated by man. For most sane people, it is simply a social construct and a way to live ones life. For many communities around the world is is very very good for these people.

The belief in a higher being has no fact for nor against. Science pushes that envelope daily to better understand our existence and boundaries. Its an easy concept as to why people can believe in such a thing and still not be an "idiot".
