Not unless you plan to actually discuss the issues. But you are just a drive by "Obama sucks" kind of guy.
The problem is Medicaid does not work. Doctors are routinely not paid, paid incorrectly, or paid late. Users of the program have frequent struggles when cases of necessary care are denied and they have to pay charges out of pocket. It still seems foolish for the feds to mandate that everyone have insurance, subsidize the premiums of the poor, and maintain a massive inefficient, ineffective bureaucracy which is a cess pool of fraud, waste, and abuse. And an HDHP is not under-insured. I had coverage for everything I could have ever encountered. I traded a lower premium for higher deductible and a massive tax shelter that allowed to save tens of thousands of dollars tax free that would have otherwise paid premiums. Before the premium prices skyrocketed, it was the best thing going.
Perhaps this is an area that can be fixed. Needless duplication between exchanges and Medicaid is trimmable fat that does not impact health care. Then perhaps and adjustment in the minimum required insurance can be implemented. People like you with enough income/assets to handle routine medical care with high deductibles could be allowed to make that choice. The problem is that million more who really can't afford high deductibles would take the plan to obtain cheaper insurance and end up back in emergency rooms, county clinics and charity hospitals for routine medical work anyway. But it seems like this is also a problem that could be addressed if the fucking political parties would cooperate for once.
I've noticed a increase in premiums, with a slight decrease in services. I'm fortunate because my husband's insurance is good and although our premiums have increased, we are still able to afford it for quality healthcare coverage. However, if I had to use the insurance available to Texas school teachers for themselves and their families, my premiums would be upwards of $2000 a month, nearly half of my take home pay. And the benefits are poor at that, with high deductibles and other out of pocket expenses. I've also noticed another couple of curious things. Regarding my 14-year-old's "well child" appointment in October, there were really invasive questions being asked that the nurse apologized for and said that the Obama Care directives were requiring these sorts of things. They asked if she had been exposed to any cigarette smoke at home or in public, along with drugs, alcohol, etc. This has never been asked before, and I can only imagine that if they answer to the cigarette smoke question was "yes," what would be the repercussions for the parents in that situation? They also did a long depression survey on her, which they have never done before, but now say they must do, according to federal law. It seemed really Big Brotherish. As for my recent ER visit, the first ER sent me away with a pain meds prescription, and further testing for what was really wrong with me (a malfunctioning gall bladder) only came when I went to a 2nd ER for a follow up. It was odd they were going to send me away (I was clearly sick/in pain) with pain meds. A nurse at the hospital that admitted me said she suspected her mother needed her gall bladder removed, but her insurance kept making her jumps through hoops to get the required tests (that ended up being done on me in the hospital in two days), and she was going weeks between being allowed to schedule the tests in doctors' offices. She said she had tried to persuade her mom to do the same (go to the ER) to actually be dealt with because the nurse insisted that was the only way I was getting speedy testing to get well. I would have hated to be in the pain I was in for a month or more before being diagnosed and treated. Many things are broken in our health system (which still is stellar.)[/QUOTE]
We got our bill for the depression survey today. $110. Keep in mind, this is a kid that we have never indicated has a problem with depression. It kind of freaked her out to do the stupid survey.
Much more pervasive questions. I've been going to the same OBG since I was in college. Have always had the same routine visits, questions, etc. Then last time around, they gave me several questions about my sex life including "how often" and "with men or women"? W....T....F? Look here, I know I'm from Cali and all but I got two kids. I don't do the lady pond.
