After this years ass raping y'all recieved worthy of its own moment in Delieverence. If Norte Dame does not go 11-1 next year I WILL BET MY HOUSE that they WILL NOT PLAY IN A BCS game!
When you come off your soapbox bitter, I have a great read to recommend: http://www.amazon.com/Under-Tarnish..._bbs_sr_1/104-3461215-2940702?ie=UTF8&s=books
I thought I was leaving this forum, but I guess I can't stay away. "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" First off, everyone knows that ND was overmatched against LSU and that this year they didn't "deserve" to be in the game. Who cares! If ND had gone undefeated and gotten whipped in the game, the same thing would be said. Look at USC/Oklahoma in 2004. Did Oklahoma deserve to be there? ND's schedule was weak this year. They haven't beaten a top 10 team in whenever. LSU had gone forever before they beat Florida in 2001. Since the 03 championship, LSU has only beaten 1 top ten team, and yet there is no arguing how good they are right now. Schedules don't always show what a team has. In 2002 ND played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, finished w/ 2 losses, and still got hammered in a bowl game. BitterND, down here people hate the Irish, plain and simple. Some still hold a grudge from the Cotton Bowl way back when. No matter what they do, the majority of LSU fans will complain about them. You either have to give up on them, or become a forum junky and keep fighting with them (I'm starting to think I'm becoming addicted!) On a personal note, I wish people would stop talking about ND's "old" history. I refuse to accept that anything that happened after I graduated high school and college (1988-1993) is "old" history. I'm not that old, dammit!
You're right I don't know many tide fans so I'll take your word on it. However, the irish still believe they are God's gift to college football, that EVERYBODY loves them, and that the rest of the world will cease to exist if a Saturday in the fall goes by and they aren't on national TV. Go read some of the comments on irish eyes. It's stunning to say the least. Their board shut down right after you kicked their heinies and when it came back up, dozens of threads had been deleted. If we don't read it or see it, it must not be true is the irish motto for now. All you have to do is continue to watch bitterD spin his way around.
Re: You're right Hmmm.....sounds just like the bama fans except they're still looking for Bear. They think he stepped out to take a sh_t but don't realize he ain't coming back to the party.
Sagarin's rating system is a joke. Do you honestly beleive that everyu PAC-10 team was in the top 15 in SOS? We usually have 2-3 rent-a-wins per year, I'll give you that. We had no way of knowing Fresno St. was going to Suck this year, and at the time the Arizona series was scheduled, they were a top 25 team. You really might want to turn on a TV once in a whhile, because there's a big world outside of South Bend. We played 4 top-10 teams on the road this year.
I think Domers are getting a little confused here. We are saying that ND did not deserve a BCS bowl NOT because of their record, but their record against solid teams. At what point, when comparing previous games, did ANYONE think that this was a solid matchup? Sure, I politely held my thoughts to myself, but I never thought that they deserved to be there. Okies deserved the 2005 game because they were the only other undefeated team in the nation, with a fairly difficult schedule. As I was telling my stepdad during this year's Fiesta Bowl- it doesn't matter who you are, for a team to go undefeated requires lots of talent and focus, no matter the difficulty of the schedule. Michigan this year played the number one team very close. They beat the smack out of a "top 15" team, and handled everyone else. However, as we've seen, Pete Carroll is a great coach, and the post-season is no different. He prepares his teams for the bowl games and beats them well. Both of those teams, the 04 OU and the 06 BigBlue team, now know about this. ND did not deserve to play in a BCS bowl. That's it. Any rational mind understands this. They control their entire schedule, and sure, that's a great deal, but in the day and age of parity, that is no longer acceptable. If ND joined the Big 11, it could have a title game, bringing more revenue into the conference, and further enhanching the parity of the game. (Who thinks its fair that only 2 of the power conferences have a title game?)
The actual problem is coaches and writers were so delusional to even rank the Irish #11 at season's end. After the loss to USC, I was hoping they would do the right thing and vote Notre Dame to about #18 in the polls. Then they would not have qualified for the top 14. Yes, I really wanted them to drop them from 5 to 18.
