Bayou, all of this could be eliminated if they would just join a conference. I think ND could win the Big East in MOST years, and would fair respectably in ANY BCS conference given time. At the least, they would make any conference stronger because they are generally a decent program. It's just hard for people to see this due to the FACT that ND has been waxed off the field in games involving elite programs lately. I don't think Bayou is arguing that ND=LSU in any way right now, just that they're not as bad as most think. He knows they didn't deserve a BCS bid this year. The guys got some big...guts coming on here and posting, so cut him some slack. He hasn't said anything derogatory about LSU! , he's just taking up for his boys.
Notre Dame showed what they're made of in the Sugar Bowl. 1966 is a legacy from which the Irish will never escape. In 1966 Notre Dame showed what a pansy program they had and it has ever been thus. Media props will always keep them overrated so that real football teams like LSU can swat them like pestering flies. Thus it is written, so shall it be.
Wilingham was such a joke. All he cared about was playing golf, and he would play a full game of golf every day. That's why our recruiting suffered so much. His first year, he actually brought in some talent. But, he accidentally stumbled in on that talent. It took another recruit's father to convince Willingham to go after BQ, who wanted to play for ND. With Weis, we know that we found a coach who actually wants to be at ND and embraces all that is great about ND. Weis comes in early each day, at around 4 or 5 in the morning, unlike Willingham who would rather be teeing it off than doing what he's paid to do. Plus, there's the sheer ungratitude of Willingham, where he threw ND under the bus and condoned those lies that ND fired him because he was black.
I'd then suggest you read the book Notre Dame Vs. The Klan: How the Fighting Irish Defeated the Ku Klux Klan by Todd Tucker. In this book, you'll learn how in 1924, students of ND confronted KKK and helped destory the popularity of the KKK. How can a school that confronted and dealt with the KKK back in 1924 be then labeled with the broad strokes of racism?
Are you kidding me, you bring up a year like 1924 to defend your racism. I will call you a racist from now on. Bama=ND
For a groupd whose popularity was "DESTROYED" in 1924, thay appeared to be going pretty strong in the 50's and 60's.
