I love how Carroll is credited with bringing D to the Pac-10. A dominating D that gave up over 500 yds to Ore. St. Really? Just goes to show. I saw two AWESOME defenses out there last night. When Jimbo decided to get a little rhythm to the offense, we moved the ball very well. OU's team speed was incredible. We couldn't get to the corner before them. Their CBs were every bit as good as our's, as illustrated by the fact that our guys got very little separation all night. Just FYI, I sat in lower terrace at the 30 and could really see the plays develop. We didn't get much separation, their speed allowed them to close in on the bubble screens so quick. It was smashmouth football, and it was good. USC did look good against Michigan. Would they have looked that good last night, probably not. I did see Corso and Herbstreit say that LSU would beat USC in the Dome, but anywhere else, USC would win. I thought that was at least concessionary on their part, all things considered.
I took the comment about LSU only being able to beat USuCk in the Dome as a sleight. It conveniently overlooked the fact that USuCk had the same "home field" advantage in the Rose Bowl as LSU had in the Sugar. LSU won more games than USuCk and against better teams in a tougher conference. (Just look at how many of LSU's opponents this year won Bowl Games--Georgia, Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss). LSU alone won its conference championship game (against a top-10 opponent, beating them for the second time). USuCk didn't even have to play a conference championship game. Michigan is simply not as good as OU. OU won 12 games in a year that the Big 12 was better than the Big 10. Michigan won 9. All of these facts got overlooked by ESPN's biased coverage. An LSU-USuCk game would be very much like the Superbowl between the Patriots and the Rams a few years ago. All the media prognosticators annointed the Rams the victor because of their "Greatest Show on Turf" offense. New England's defense punked the Rams, and Billichick (Saban's mentor) took the ring. That's exactly what would happened if LSU played USuCk. As for ABC's gametime coverage, I thought it was more balanced and did a good job of complimenting both LSU's and OU's play.
Question: How many big road games did USC have this year? One: Auburn. If you want to call it that. LSU: Georgia and Ole Miss
Riverrat, I could see it as a sleight, but that is the first time that they give enough credit to LSU to say that they would beat USC. That had to be a serious pill to swallow for those Herby to say that. I couldn't be more pleased with the results of the BCS, the matchup, the game, the result. And USC with their fabricated NC. They should have their ring ceremony either at Disneyland or Neverland. Either way, its all make believe. Hey, maybe OU can make some rings too, saying that since they finished No. 1 in the BCS, they are NCs too. No need to play any games. Just make the rings...
