Penn State ranked first in the big 10 in scoring defense and second in all other defensive categories that matter, behind Michigan State. Now, where are you hanging your hat?
Right, in the Big 10, where they've toppled such ferocious competition as Indiana, Purdue, and Iowa. And let's not forget the non-conference juggernauts of Indiana State, Temple, and that powerhouse Eastern Michigan. Again, Penn State yielded only 3 fewer points to Northwestern than they did to bama. The point here isn't that bama's offense isn't any good, it's that Penn St's defense is not even in the same solar system as LSU's. . .but I think you know that.
And again what was the final score? Look at it this way- 463 yards and they still got their @sses kicked.
I am out for the night guys. Gotta go to the fair with my little girl... I will be back on tomorrow, and will get to all the responses. Roll Tide!
It's a pretty good analysis, but I'd have to give our Secondary the edge and I don't know how you come up with Bama rolling us up for 28 points unless you plan to run down our throats like Auburn did last year, but that's going to be a hard feat to accomplish with the D-line that has the edge even according to you. Can you explain that a bit more thoroughly please? And I am really surprised that you failed to account for special teams in your analysis. Are you not aware, for example, of the field position advantage we have enjoyed with our favorite Aussie? That was just one example, we can list many more. Please address special teams in your answer as well.
Thanks, that's funny. Shows I did not read the entire thread. No time during the day, etc. But reading that 2nd post, I'd probably give more than an edge to LSU in the ST department. Most of us expect this will be a field position type of game. How is Alabama going to account for that? Run/pass Richardson for 200 or 300 yards? Bama will definitely try to suck the DLine in and dump off to Richardson on the screen. Good. What else will they do to deal with all that we have?
