No offense but we have already discussed homerism in depth. Both teams have it, and it is known. Not going to start spewing anything else. Trying to talk some football with people who are just as diehard as me.
Concern has nothing to do with football. It is all about preparation and execution. If either team is concerned than that is the team that will lose. All you can do is play football and hope that you do the little things right that lead your team to a win.
I actually think that Kirpatrick (sp?) will do a good job covering RR and we will definitely need the play of both Shepard and Beckham to show up. I think they will, and we may be good for one deep pass to RR over the top. Mid 3rd quarter after the heavy dose of Ware, Ford, and Hilliard
Anyway guys, been fun messing around. Bout to get off work so will probably come back tomorrow and talk some more. I know some fans have this feeling of disdain for one another, but I for one do not feel that way against LSU. We are carrying the flag of our conference and of all college football. Both programs truly are better because every year this game takes place. This one will be fun and hopefully no one will get hurt.
About being concerned, this is one area I give the advantage to LSU and a lot of analysts agree. LSU has already played in atleast 3 very intense games, hyped matchups, went in the under dog and came out proven. The nation doesnt know how Alabama is going to respond, Alabama fans may, but it hasnt been proven to rest the of the Nation yet. Lee has proven he can contain & compete in these types of games, AJ hasnt yet. He could fold, we still dont truly know. We can only assume one way or the other. I will admit, I was impressed with him on the 1st scoring drive against Penn St after they took an early lead.
I disagree. What I mean by concern, deals with preparation and execution. Concern is not a matter of "fear", it's a matter of attention to detail You can bet Saban is concerned, and is dissecting films right and left, getting the feel for the LSU offense and defense, how can he exploit it, and how can avoid the traps that have hurt opponents. It's like me ...I'm concerned about covering T.R on his little screens out of the backfield. They have been effective. I couldn't believe TN left him wide open, time and time again, after seeing the same play against Ol Miss over and over. LSU NEEDS to be concerned about that play, and plan to defend it.
Not in the least. 1. Bigger is slower. 2. Smaller is faster. 3. You can't block a man that is no longer there.
Tell that to Texas. Muschamp's been trying to chase down Trent Richardson at two different universities forever, with that defensive philosophy. Ain't caught him yet.
Despite being a LSU fan, being objective Id give Bama the advantage in OL and RB. Our OL is damn good. They wear on the opposing D. In the first half LSU doesnt run the ball all that well. In the second half is when LSU gets more gashes and a more consistent running game. I think we have to come out with quick passes again this week to soften the Bama D. Bama is also a smash mouth, run first team. Fact is their run game is more consistent. Because of that I give them the nod. I agree LSU has the much deeper stable of backs. Ware is one hell of a back. Hilliard looks like a future stud, I hope he gets a lot of carries in the Bama game. Richardson is the best back in the game. Being that most teams use a two back system Id give Bama a slight edge. I think LSU has the slight edge in QB play. Im still not the biggest fan of the two system. It works though. WR is certainly LSU. I think the playmakers is what will win us the game. Randle is finally playing to expectations. Beckham is a smooth WR who can also beat you deep or take a short pass all the way. I think our DBs will do a good job on their WRs. LBs is all Bama. Their LBs are all NFL players. I think DBs is very close. LSU gets the nod based on depth. I think the Bama secondary is slightly better because of a lil surer tackling. The depth of LSU is just ridiculous though so we get the nod. Special teams is all LSU. Coaching is a wash IMO. Both staffs do a great job when given that extra week. Last year Miles did get the best of Saban though.
