Agreed, these teams are pretty much mirror images of each other... However, I pointed out that Bama has the more physical, deep team, that will wear LSU down in this game. LSU is fast, but speed won't beat physical domination.

LSU is ranked #5 in punt return defense.

Nobody has physically dominated LSU this season, nor last season. LSU has not traded off size for speed. We have some very big boys on the line with very quick feet. Neither do I think than Alabama is deeper than LSU.

Punting is situational... I gave my reasonings on the punting situation in some of my new posts today. Check them out...

The match up I am looking forward to seeing is the Ganja Badger vs Trent Richardson...

IF that matchup comes into play, I see it going something like this...

Tappy, first of all thanks for coming in with a cool attitude and some very good points.

I would like to compare things a little differntly, because comparing 1 team's DL to the other team's DL is about as useful as tits on a board.

AL DL & LB vs LSU OL & RB: Advantage LSU - This is one of the best O lines in the country, and our fullbacks can crush anyone in their way. Yes, you guys have some very large linebackers but they will wear down from chasing our speed sideline to sideline; then comes the power running game down their throat. Spencer Ware and Kenny Hilliard can take on those big fellas at LB.

AL OL & RB vs LSU DL & LB: Stalemate - On the interior you guys have a slight edge, but we are faster on the edges. Richardson will get some yards, but he will not run free on this defense. He will probably steam roll one of our LBs at some point though, as much as I hate to say it.

AL Passing vs LSU 2ndary: Big Advantage LSU - McCarron is going to be confused by some of the defensive schemes and will throw some picks. This LSU secondary smothers receivers and creates turnovers.

LSU Passing vs AL 2ndary: Slight Advantage LSU - Our running game sets up play action very well. The key will be for our OL to give Lee enough time to read his progression. I fully expect to see some new plays that will create big gains for us.

Special Teams: This is another big advantage for LSU, in all aspects. This is where we will win the battle of field position, and it will be a critical part of the ballgame.

Team Depth: Big Advantage LSU. I really cannot say enough about this and how it plays to our advantage. There have been quit a few games for AL this year where they were held close in the first half but your opponents' lack of depth provided you with easy wins. That is NOT the case here. We will be rotating guys all game long at every position and will wear you out.

*I think 1 major downfall for all of the Bama fans and analysts right now is that they are putting way too much stock in Trent Richardson. He is a great back, no doubt, but he is not unstoppable.

    My prediction:

    LSU 34 Bama 17

Yes, we are a very conservative style team. Very old school, but we win with it. As you said, we are a big gorilla pounding on smaller teams. That is our play style, physical and dominant, and that is why I think we win this game.

Containing TR is gonna be a tough task, and no team has done it yet... Hats off to LSU if they can...

Our D will have a challenge with the dual threat jefferson, and the deep threat... I am not worried about the running game. We are ranked 1st in the nation in run D for a reason, and it's not even close.

LSU is beating us on sacks, partly because of speed, but mostly because they haven't faced an offensive front like ours.
