It isn't a matter of if the President is offended. It is a matter of, as an American citizen, we should be more respectful. It isn't a stance against the right to assemble and protest, it is a stance against such display of hatred toward the institution of the Presidency.

i have no problem with a protest but in the manner in which it is handled is different.

you dont care what the target of the protest is? really?

so those freaks protesting funerals of those servicemen and women KIA in iraq was fine with you?

In the above demonstration, its embarrassing to me as a citizen of america regardless the freedoms we are entitled.

if the above was directed at me, I would not be offended. i get offended for others and not so much myself. So I could only imagine if I was president on my way out, i certainly wouldnt give a shiit.

As American citizens, we should be just as respectful of the right to legal protest as we are of the office of the presidency... both were created by the Constitution, and our ultimate loyalty as Americans is to the Constitution.

I hear a lot of you talking about respect. But out of curiousity, what would all of you rather see on the signs? 'Mr. President, we respectfully disagree with your policies'? It's a protest. It's not meant to be respectful, and I've yet to see one that was considered such by the recipient. I'm just really curious as to what you all would refer to as a respectful protest in this specific context.

Such protesting like burning an american flag will often get your ass respectfully whipped, too, but remember its your right.

The Constitution protects nobody from being offended, despite the attempts of state lawmakers to make this so.

Come on . . . all those signs were about a guy named Bush. Did you see one that said "Puck the Fresidency"?

I don't support the kind of protest that cult was doing by holding the "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" signs at the funerals of US soldiers. After they started doing that, states started passing laws to make it illegal to protest at a funeral, and rightfully so.

But I don't see the problem with people assembling on public streets holding signs in protest of the US President (regardless of who the President is), and I don't think that it should ever be made illegal.

Care to elaborate? You think we should be banned from protesting the President. I think we should be allowed to protest the President.
