Any recent examples come to mind? They were on the wrong side of the Iraq War, Social Security reform, the illegal immigration problem, the budget deficits, bribery scandals, sex scandals, etc., etc.

    They recognize the republicans!

Yeah, how stupid to propose a social security plan that would allow me to invest and control a portion of the money they steal from my paycheck. The Dems answer is much better ... do nothing.

And Reps on the wrong side of the illegal immigration issue? The vast majority of Reps oppose Bush's plan for amnesty, and so do the majority of Americans. It's the liberals pushing Bush for amnesty in this country.

They are not necessarily on the wrong side, Red. They are just not on your side.

the gay thing was just a side story of of no consequence. it was only announced to distract attention from massive corruption and scandal in his administration.

i remember watching the news conference. he was like "i am resigning, i am gay". and i thought, "why is he resigning because he is gay?". and then it continued, (paraphrasing) "...also i am facing a zillion lawsuits and my administration is cripplingly corrupt".

it was weird that both his gayness and corruptness were announced at the same time, because they had nothing to do with each other.

and for the thousandth time, public opinion has no correlation with the correct opinion and it is totally irrelevant.

just because people are too stupid to see that big zillion dollar programs like social security hurt them more than help them, that doesn't mean they shouldnt be reduced.

again, you are acting as if an idea, for example social security reform, is bad and bush is on the wrong side of it simply because you think the american people say so. you need to get it through your head that good decisions are good or bad independent of the current public opinion.

Pretty damned stupid to propose a social security "solution" that would cost more than the current plan! Not only that, it offered less security and more risk. There are already plenty of investment plans that allow one to control his own money--IRA's, 401K's, deferred compensation plans, etc.

No, his plan would have just shifted more of the social security deficit from paychecks for citizens to profits for the investment industry. It was thoroughly shot down by the citizens of both parties.

Not in a democracy, chum. This is a government of, for, and by The People. Bush chose a plan that did not meet the needs of the people and was humiliated for it.

Your ignorance of the Constitution is not my problem. The President works for the People.

yeah, wouldnt that be terrible if the private investment industry actually made profits. weird how private comapnies actually put our money to good use and make profits and actual returns on our investments. also weird how we actually get to decide which private company to use instead of just having our money taken from us and manipluated however the government sees fit.

but i suppose the current system has been in place long enough that it is considered sort of minstream and status quo, and changing it would be extreme and extreme is bad by definition according to red.

I didn't shoot down Bush's absurd plan. It was shot down by The American People, or didn't you notice? You don't fix a program that is going broke by making it more expensive.
