Perhaps, but how is it "the norm" for democrats. That was the objection. The 1989 Barney Frank scandal was huge, how is it that DRC's notion that there are no scandals for gay democrats is to be believed.
I made it up? Excuse me? :dis: Now, after you've had your fair share of crow, consider this my friend. To further illustrate the "norm" tag I gave democratic gay scandals, lets examine just how this Gov publicly proclaimed his gayness to the world. He walks into the presser hand in hand with his wife who is beaming from ear to ear. While announcing his gayness his wife is looking on with a bizarre wide smile as if everything was hunky dory. If you silenced the audio you would think he was making a political acceptance speech instead of admitting guilt. Go figure.
McGreevey's memoir details gay trysts Now that's more like it! Valid evidence. :thumb: Still, he was not arrested and exposed at a public restroom while in office, so it should be no surprise that there was less scandal at an item in his memoirs years later. I mean, who reads memoirs? I still can't buy "the norm" business. I can find just as much democratic scandalous behavior reported in the media as republican, one just has to go further back. It may seem like more republican exposure because: 1. The republicans have been in charge of the country for the last 7 years. In the news anyway. 2. They are stridently anti-gay. The hypocrisy thing. 3. There have been a string of Republican scandals very recently. Timely news.
They? Damn, talk about a broad brush. A couple of Repubs turn out to be cornholers and suddenly we're all gay bashing weiner eaters? That's like Bama equating obscene language to tank tops (see my "got to be a joke" thread.
The difference between the Republicans and the Democrats is that the Republicans recognize the problem and do something about it. The Democrats don't recognize anything as being a problem.
The Republicans - as a group - is strongly against recognizing gay marriages and make no apology for it.
I grew up in a very conservative household. My family will defend capitalism "tooth and nail" so to speak. I too shared this belief until I realized something wasn't right. I even went so far as to take a John Kerry sign out of my neighbors yard because I suspected that he stole a George Bush Jr. sign out of my yard. Childish, I know. Someone once told me that politics and religion bring out the worst in people; this is true along with rush-hour traffic. Liberals like to hide money in the fridge, call New Orleans a "chocolate city" and spooz on interns dresses. Republicans like to destroy the environment, make lots of money on oil and fund worthless wars. Is there really a choice these days? No wonder less than half of this country votes... I'm independent for better or worse. P.S. If I hear that Rutgers locker room chant one more time, I'm gonna freak out.
