Well even though he admitted today, he has lied in the past when people asked him that question. That makes this look bad, because he admits it when the evidence is presented to the public.

Well of course this is definitely a black mark but I'm just happy that he's not trying to make excuses like everyone else. It's refreshing.

Here is what he has to say about that:

Rodriguez also said of his 2007 interview with Katie Couric on "60 Minutes," when he denied ever using steroids, that "at the time, I wasn't being truthful with myself. How could I be truthful with Katie Couric or CBS?"

Once you lose credibility, its tough to gain it back: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky ..."

So you find his response to the allegations pretty much the same as Bonds or Clemens?

I'm not saying, he's not a bum for using, just that it's nice for someone to take responsibility for it.

thats not really taking responsibility after the fact. its just hes been advised by his p.r. people it would lessen the outcry.

the others can hide since they are retired...big mac, sosa, clemens

the ones who still play had to act contrite: giambi, pettitte, arod

I know you directed this at Tirk but I find his response disingenuous. He got busted and coming forward is a calculated move to preserve his spot in baseball history and the hall of fame. He was also very careful not to say what he's been doing the last several years. So what happened, did he just wake up one day and say...gee, this isnt good for baseball so Im gonna quit. Doubt it.

Well he could have been taken things that are harder to trace, because they ramped up the testing in the past few years.
