First, it's Fishhead...two H's. (Just messin' with ya')

No, it will do you no good to do that research, because it is useless info. I don't care how long he's been playing. I can't believe you picked that one thing out of what I posted, and didn't address anything else. How long he played before he got to LSU makes no difference to me whatsoever, and shouldn't to anyone.

And to suggest JJ "gets a pass" is funny. JJ is hammered on this and other LSU fan forums.

It is clear you have no intentions of addressing the real issues in what I posted.

They are BOTH juniors this year...he a redshirt Junior, and JJ a true junior. He should be ahead of JJ, and isn't. FWIW, I was never one to think Garrett was a challenger to him as backup. He is the backup without question.

well, i'm certainly not claiming to be anything more than an amateur football fan myself. i'm certainly NO WHERE near as fanatic as i am about baseball...

i usually don't subscribe to conspiracy theories, so i usually run with what i personally see or hear. not that i am digging, but i just haven't heard or seen anything that would definitively say that one QB is better than the other. fact is, you could start either one and i'd be pretty sure that the final stats of the season wouldn't be that far off from one another -- most quarterbacks perform within percentages of one another. that is why you can use stats to your advantage. for me, i have no personal interest in who starts at QB for LSU when it really comes down to it. life is too short. :thumb:

I guess it comes down to a matter of taste. I like watching offenses where the qb throws the ball. In my understanding the qb is supposed to call the play, snap the ball on time, drop back, read the defense and let go of the ball.

Lee seemed to do that...the reads where obviously lacking but at least he let go of it. At least he made a decision. Why does Jefferson hold onto the ball so long? Is it because he can't read the defense? His inability to pull the trigger was maddening to me.

For the record my favorite LSU qb was Rohan Davey. That dude was awesome....that season they went to the SEC Championship game with him was one of the most fun teams to watch that I can remember. Even my Florida Gator friends where walking around the bar saying "Rohan Davey!" all the time after that game against Alabama with Josh Reed. They were all cheering for LSU against Tennessee that year, too. That was a fun team to root for....it's kind of hard to cheer on that offense from last year....they seemed so timid most of the time.

let's be fair and hate 'em both equally. no need to pick sides here. they both have serious issues and no offensive line is likely to hide their glaring weaknesses.

    JJ cant think quickly enough.

    JL simply cant think.

going to be tough to have any type of lead with either of these two remaining status quo.

if les tries to just pound the ball we will have 11 men in our jock the entire game.

i suspect 10 screens a game. but JL cant complete them to the right team so he's out by default.

hopefully JJ can complete at least one ball longer than 5 yards down field sometime this calendar year. that would be great.

Thanks for the info from the HS coach. I respect HS coaches and think most of them really know football. However, I also know that some coaches choose to get more focused as the season gets closer, and who knows if Miles will start chewing a#@ in the coming weeks or if a new coach like Gonzales will feel more comfortable and get in kids faces. I saw chavis tear into a new linebacker at the Spring game, looked pretty intense.
The HS coach's point was well receievd (somewhat) by me untill he compared him to Saban. At that point it seemed like picking one over the other. Let's see, did Saban's tough no nonsense demeanor help get his players ready for ULM, or getting their asses handed to them by Utah? Different styles CAN be effective. One thing about the constant hard-ass, many times there teams stop giving the 100% and the coach burns his staff and himself out. Every year a team has a diffent makeup, some respond better to criticism, while some need to be patted on the back more. Experienced coaches know this. The attitude of of a team/staff/coach during such an open environment with other coaches at your practice is not something I would put any weight behind.
In the end this coach could be dead on, but in the mean time I will give Les the benefit of the doubt for another year. (not that he needs it).
By the way, What would LSU fans have said about Saban if we (LSU) would have been completely WHIPPED by Utah in the Sugar Bowl, or beaten by ULM while he was coaching here?

Good post. That offense is also my favorite LSU offense to watch, and was quite effective at that. But I guess my point is this. JLee is no Rohan Davey. Obviously, neither is JJ. I am not crazy about JJ's play so far, but just as you say Lee can improve, so can JJ. And quite frankly, what appears to you to be support of JJ on my part is simply me picking the lesser of two evils. JJ helps the team more by not hurting the team.

As much as I hate to admit it, there is a lot of truth in what Tirk posted. Neither is that good, but JJ gives LSU the better chance. Like I said, LSU was in every game last season, which is NOT the case with the '08 season. Yes, the defense was better last year, but it must be taken into account that we did not spot points to the opposition last year. That IS a big deal.

As usual, tirk has boiled a problem down into its simplest terms. And as usual, he's spot on with his analysis.

Yep, and it pisses me right off; not the fact that he's right, rather, what he's right about. Seriously, why in the bloody HELL do we seem to have the two most dim-witted quarterbacks in the entire freaking league? We would be really hard to beat with just one average QB, but we can't even manage that. Why?! Is it really that much to ask? It seems like the talent is there, but someone just isn't getting through to these guys at all.

we finished 9th in the league in passing. NINTH!
completing a lot of screen passes ain't getting it done.
