I think this coach is on the money. Every one of his points has been an observation or criticism that has been discussed numerous times on this board. It sucks, but apparently we're 'who we thought we were'.

i don't know, but it could have to do with the fact that he wasn't taking every snap like jordan was -- that could skew things, but i think it's a wash between the two with JJ possibly having the slight edge. experience is the name of the game, and JJ has this in spades. confidence has a lot tot do with it as well, and i'm not saying that JJ is the most confident QB there is, but he is surely more confident than JL.

Sometimes we are all just so close to things important to us that we can’t see clearly what’s going on and start to listen too much to people who really don’t have our best interests at heart.

With that said, let’s take a step back and a bird’s eye view of LSU football under Coach Miles:

2005 --- Mile’s first year --- final ranking of #5 with an 11/2 record. Like many fans, even though I was disappointed with our choice to replace Saban, in light of Katrina and our final ranking, I was thrilled to have CLM as head coach. GREAT YEAR

2006 --- Final ranking of #3 with an 11/2 record. I really could not complain and started to look at how I defined the characteristics of a great leader as Miles' speaking style has left me cringing from day one, but how can one argue with results. My thinking was that, “next year will be our year.” SECOND GREAT YEAR IN A ROW

2007 --- Final ranking of #1 with a 12/2 record. My thinking was, “beauty is as beauty does and winning is as winners do.” My hope was that “next year” would be the year that CLM wins all of us LSU fans over as the argument that “he was winning with Saban’s players” would be completely bankrupt with another top five ranking. THIRD GREAT YEAR IN A ROW

2008 --- Final ranking of #28 (we were third on honorable mention) with an 8/5 record, but at least a blowout over GT gave hope for “next year”. Our defense sucked and with a new DC on the way, my hope was that we would at least be a top ten team “next year” --- but going from #1 to #28 in one year was one of the biggest drops ever.

2009 --- Final ranking of #17 with a 9/4 ranking including a loss in the “mud bowl” which neutralized LSU’s speed. This year our offense sucked and my hope is that just as CLM changes made in 2008 on defense worked and promise to continue to get even better, the changes made on offense this year will work at least as well.

    2010 --- ???? Hope springs eternal.

You mean move the ball into the D's hands.

J Lee had his chance last year and stunk it up.

Again, many have posted but few have read, try and find all the soph QB's that have started at LSU and look at where JJ is compared to them. Not far off.

The thing that JJ holds over lee is not making HUGE game mistakes. Does he have faults, sure, but so bad that he literally gives the game to the other team..

IMO, JJ is a good mobile QB and will be used as such this year.

Do you think Lee would have taken a sack against Ole Miss while in field goal range? It's impossible to know, I know but I doubt he would have. Jefferson is way to comfortable just eating the ball.

Or how about a 4th down sack against Florida last year? Probably LSU's last possession of the game, 4th down...behind in the game....I mean, what the hell....you have to let go of the ball....anywhere, to anyone is better than a sack. Maybe you get an interference or something...but a sack?

Obviously neither one is Joe Montana but I'll gamble on the guy who throws the ball and moves the offense forward....sure you have to deal with some interceptions but it's always like that in sports....homerun hitters strikeout a lot...John Daly shoots 64 one day and 80 the next but at least they are a threat.

The LSU offense never threatened the defense enough if you ask me.....I mean that Georgia game two years ago where Lee threw a pick six first play of the game.....ok, emotionally a real bitch, yes, I agree but on the other hand they took the second kickoff an marched right down the field and scored. Tie game....and even after we were well behind the offense kept coming back and scoring points.

Its an endless debate I know but I prefer moments of brilliance and agony than 60 minutes of mediocrity.

    16 ints!!!

    16!

Take some time and look at some stats. JJ had more TD's and more yards and a better completion rating that J Lee.

EVERYTHING about JJ was better than LEE.

JJ can run better, roll out better and keep the ball in LSU's hands better.

I mean yea, sacks are bad, but half that burden is on the O line too. Also, would we rather watch a young QB try and throw the ball away and Bam pick?
We can afford to keep flip flopping QBs, JJ is far good enough to get LSU back to the SEC Champ game. He cant win the game by himself and if our whole team relies just on him, we are in trouble anyway.

I mean all the talk this off season is QB, but what about the piss poor run game? No one dared talked **** about Scott.......

At this point, people are just pointing the finger at an obvious choice.

I am almost certain that with better blocking, better run game, JJ will be better..

    I know about the ints.

J Lee certainly has issues but under JJ the offense was not better. Did they score more points under Lee or Jefferson?

Anyway, back to the OP....I'm sure the high school coach knows more than i do about football but what the hell, Miles recruits like crazy, has a good staff of coaches and has won a MNC.

He deserves at least two more years to return the Tigers to the top of the SEC.

SO is it they or he?

B/C He ( J LEE ) did not score more than He ( JJ ) However the TEAM ( 2008 ) did score more than the TEAM ( 2009 ).

I'm not saying I'm 100% right. I wouldn't be suprised if the coach staff is not 100% certain about it.

CLM sounded like he thought they were getting closer after the spring game but was still leaning toward JJ.

Unlike some others around here I don't think Miles is an idiot so I will defer to him but I think J Lee will help LSU win a game or two this year.
